Is 12x12 the inside or outside dimension please?

12x12 is the size of photo that fits nicely into the frame. The dimensions of the photo that are visible through the glass are 11.5x11.5

Could you please tell me the inner depth? I need to fit 7cm height inside. Thanks

I bought the 12 inch by 12 inch because I had a foot square photos to frame and they fit perfectly inside with a couple of millimetres or so to spare, I was very pleased with the excellent quality.
