Thanks for Tuning In Paperback – Illustrated, August 15, 2006

I grew up watching “Wallace & Ladmo” so I enjoyed reading of Wallace’s background & his journey into having a television show along with behind the scenes insights of & relationships between the characters on the show. Surprised to figure out that his grandfather’s Phx mansion later became the “haunted” Merryweather’s” mansion in Arcadia’s school district complete with urban legends.

Great book for any fan of the show. I loved the insight on how a lot of the characters came to be.

This is my second copy, the first was lent out and never came back! As a Phoenix native growing up in the fifties and sixties Wallace, Ladmo & Pat McMahon helped form my (twisted) sense of humor. Between these folks and Steve Allen (also in Phoenix during part of that era), we were exposed to intelligent, creative comedy by people who loved what they were doing and had respect and love for their audiences! What a wonderful gift they shared with us! Subversive humor at its finest.....

Thank you so much. I watched Wallace and Ladmo in the late 70s and read this book in 2 sittings. Topical, not a lot of fluff writing, very easy to stick to topic. Also bought 2 DVDS from the old time movies and the 35th anniversary. Man, I miss this show!!As an adult, I totally understand some of the jokes on the show much better ;)

Great book by one of Arizona's legendary comedy producer / entertainers. Bill Thompson, alias Wallace Snead, tells the his very personal story of growing up in New York and moving to Arizona as a young adult. One of my favorite books of all time. If you watched the Wallace & Ladmo show, you should read this incredible book.

I highly recommend this book, but its appeal would most likely be only to people who spent some part of their childhood in the Phoenix area from the mid-fifties through the seventies, and who watched the show or who were at some of the stage shows. I didn't watch it regularly, but like every other kid in Phoenix back then, I watched it some, and the book was fascinating and informative.

In 1963 I moved with my family to Phoenix, and discovered Wallace and Ladmo. Best show for kids in the world! Finally got to read about the creator of the show from the horses' mouth. This is a great read, especially if you grew up watching the show. Thanks Bill Thompson for all the memories! And remember, "No dime, no doughnut!"

If you don't know who Wallace and Ladmo were, then this book would not be too useful. If you grew up in the KPHO viewing area then you watched Wallace and Ladmo. Wallace was a very private man, and it was nice to read about him, and his family.
