Perfect tension strings
The big E, B and high E are medium gauge, while the A, D and G are lights. Brilliant combination! For finger-style and strumming. Soloing also great with this tension. Light gauge is too light with the skinny B/E, it drives me nuts. Medium gauge is too much for the middle strings. Mr Juber figured it out. I hope Martin keeps making them. Also, the Monel (copper nickel) alloy is clear and resonant without the brass or phosphor bronze shimmer and zing. Retros are way more fundamental. Great bottom, strong driving mids, clear highs. Highly recommended!

Have a acoustic that no strings seem to work with?
Have a acoustic that no strings seem to work with? Then get these and you are in for a treat! Last as long as coated strings and the tone is awesome!

Perfect sound four acoustic archtop
I've been searching for a particular sound for my non-amplified vintage archtop. These strings do the trick.

Recommended for Vintage Acoustic Guitars
These are the strings I use on my 70 year old Martin D-18, which has massive bass and cost me $10,000. I also use them on my Martin 000-28 slot head VS, which has a very different tone and is better for finger style. These are the strings Tony Rice recommended, or close to it. I also use Monel strings on my $12,000 (used) Gibson mandolin for that old time tone, as recommended by Dave Harvey, who helped build it 21 years ago. However, he recommends .0115 for the mandolin, but I use Curt Mangan light gauge Monel strings because I prefer the warmer tone and it is already super loud. Mike Kemnitzer (Nugget mandolins—perhaps the best made) also specifies Monel strings.

Good strings for my D15M
I put the Martin MLJ13's on my D15M and here's what I have noticed right away. The ultra-bright (in my opinion harsh) sound of new strings was absent. There is no break-in period. They bring out the rich tones of the mahogany guitar that I love. The lows, mids and highs are clear and clean, no mud. I stretched them out, about two dozen strong pulls on each string did it. They are very stable. I wait to see how long they last but right now I really like them. I do not lose any tone or volume with the 13-56 strings.

Warm and Mellow
I have tried many different strings on my Martin D-18 but these are by far my favorite. My 55 year old guitar loves them. They guitar is awesome on its own but these strings bring it to whole new level.

Great, broken-in sound
Great strings. They sound broken in pretty quickly. I’ve never been partial to the coated strings sound, so these were great. Will definitely buy again.

Mellow Strings with Great Longevity
I've used these and I've also used the very similar Monel Martin Bluegrass strings. The gauges are almost identical. I had the Bluegrass set on my guitar for over a year (not kidding) with moderate to heavy use in that time. They barely seemed to age. These strings do not have the brightness of Phospher/Bronze strings, but they are not what I'd call dull. Balanced is how they sound to me. The feel on the fingers is excellent.Good for fingerstyle and strumming.
