Delicious and so much better than I expected!
I wanted to make one of Mary Berry’s Brussels sprouts recipes that included pancetta and chestnuts. (It’s SO good!) Anyway, I’ve never attempted to buy chestnuts outside of the fall/winter seasons. I didn’t realize you could obtain them in other than a fresh form. I love chestnuts, so when I saw these packaged ones, I pretty much assumed they would not be anything like fresh ones. Additionally, I saw reviews about questionable quality, old or rancid product, etc., so I really was not expecting much. When I opened the bag, I tasted them before adding to my sprouts. THESE ARE GOOD! Honestly, if I didn’t need the entire bag for my recipe, I would have sat down with a glass of wine and the chestnuts. They were that good. The ones I received taste like the ones I have roasted in the oven in the past, except that they were not hot when I took them from the bag. I have even had roasted chestnuts purchased from vendors on the streets of Paris, and, not counting the memory of eating hot chestnuts out of a paper cone on the street in Paris in the rain, these taste the same. My recipe (or rather, Mary Berry’s recipe) was everything I had hoped for, despite the fact I couldn’t get fresh chestnuts.I don’t question those who said they received a less-than-fresh package, because those things happen, but the ones I received were wonderful, and I am going to put them on my list as a repeat order. (And, these are so easy to prepare, I may even use them (instead of fresh) during their season, if I am adding to a recipe and not just serving as a fun snack). I would definitely recommend these!

Tasty and fresh
Just discovered these roasted chestnuts as a healthy snack option. I eat then right out of the bag. Love that they are organic and ready to eat.No added ingredients so low in fat and sodium.I wish the bag was larger. I bought them on sale through Amazon Fresh for less than 3 bucks a bag. Probably will wait until they are on sale until I buy again. I noticed the price fluctuates.Overall I recommend it and will buy again depending on the price.

My first time trying chestnuts.
I have wanted to try chestnuts for a while but had no way to get some. So when I saw them a week or two before Christmas 2022, I quickly added them to my cart. The problem was...they kept selling out! Finally, I was able to get them the day after Christmas. From the first taste, I loved them. I ate almost the entire bag in one sitting. My next goal...to try hot roasted chestnuts.

Tastes Like Thanksgiving!
I grew up having fresh chestnuts around the fall/winter holiday time.I love chestnut 's flavor, but, as we all know, the downside of labor involved in roasting and pealing them greatly outweighs the joy that you gt from eating them.I love these because: 1. All of the cooking and peeling work is done; and, 2 They come in these discreet packets, so you can use as few or as many as you like without opening a jar and worrying about the remainder spoiling before you can use them again.I use them to make chestnut stuffing for turkey and chicken, and I also candy them with sugar and honey ... of course, they are also delicious just for snacking.

Not very tasty.
This was my first time to eat chestnuts prepared this way. I probably won't try any others. They weren't very tasty (to me). I'm sure someone else loves the taste.

Fresh and delicious!
So happy this is available year-round! Just remember to store in the fridge after opening. It could get moldy if left at room temperature.

Eat bare for nutrition; pair with SWEET treat; salt or sugar; add to savory or sweet recipe ETC
The media could not be loaded. I'm in surprise LOVE! I DO usually roast my own chestnuts from raw, which is time consuming and inconvenient since they're only available in Oregon during the holidays. These taste great comparably, they are on the moist side (mild nutty flavor that isn't sweet yet isn't too earthy). I wonder if other reviewers have ever tasted chestnuts before- which don't taste like peanuts etc and aren't supposed to be roasted to a crunchy oblivion like some nuts. To my knowledge that would be gross, it's just not the same.THANKS for being available year round!! I usually eat this brand alongside sweets, minced into stuffing, rice dishes, salad topping, etc.

Spoiled
Product has nothing printed on when the product was roasted or expires. When I opened the bag the smell alone was horrible fishy smell. When I reached for a bit they were wet and slimy. I wish I had read the reviews where other customers had the same experience before purchasing. I’m leaving a review to drive down the overall ratings to warm future customers.
