excellent, easy to assemble

I got the bench in white. It came yesterday. It was super easy to put together. 15 minutes tops and I'm not very handy. It's not flimsy and has a nice but not impossible to move weight to it. On the instructions it recommends moving the white painted one inside for the winter and also recommends not having it in the sun and not to clean with bleach so I wonder how I will deal with enevetable mildew. It does say its appearance will change once its outside. This wood has a lot of oil in it so I suspect the paint will probably crack and chip. This I knew when I bought it but I had my heart set on white.I originally planned to have it in my shade garden year round but am now rethinking that. Right now it's sitting under a window in my foyer and looks quite nice. That may be it's winter home. I doubt you have these issues with natural oiled wood ones but I'm not sure about that. I know you wouldn't with teak, not sure about eucalyptus. Anyway I'm quite pleased with it and I'm a perfectionist.

The black lacquer finish makes this Sir Edwin Lutyens classic English garden bench a focal point on my stone patio . The wood is excellent quality , the finish is amazing . It was not difficult to put together ( I dislike DIY stuff intensely ) just so you know . The price is great ! I saw the exact piece in white lacquer at a famous patio furniture store for ten TIMES the price I paid . So that made my day . I have bought a bright red seat cushion and two streamlined rectangular side cushions in a beautiful striped fabric ; and people with high-end decorators ask me where I got my gem ! It is also really comfortable . SO GLAD I bought it !

For the price this item is awesome. If I had paid a little more I believe it would have been a lush thickness. The bench is sturdy just not the extra sturdy. Easy to assemble - fast shipping.

I was nervous about ordering this bench after reading some reviews stating they had issues with assembly and quality. Well mine was perfect! Great quality and style for an incredible price. And it could not have been easier to assemble. Every hole and peg were straight and true. Brass screws and bolts were an unexpected surprise. And it was packaged so well that there was not a scratch or dent anywhere in the wood. We did put Spar semigloss varnish on the bench immediately because I did not want a weathered look. I will be ordering one more for another spot in my garden. Oh and it is very comfortable and sturdy, too.

Wow- what a disappointment! This arrived undamaged and it was easy to assemble. We put it outside on our deck and less than a week later- with no use- the paint is cracking in several places and is flaking off. The paint is very thick, hard, and glossy. The bench looks great new and the design seems strong, but this is ridiculous how quickly the paint is failing. I would recommend that you steer clear of this particular bench unless you're going for an unintentional, distressed look. Unfortunately we've already disposed of the packaging but I will see if there's a way to return this. Very disappointing.

Beautiful. I bought the white 4ft bench for my outside front porch. I did purchase some adhesive square bumpers to place under the bottom legs just to protect them from standing water from rain. My husband and I assembled it, quick n easy, there were a few little bumps on the white wood but I was able to use a White cabinet correction crayon to touch it up. I only sit there to put on tennis shoes etc. but If I were to sit longer I’d probably buy a cushion for it. Obviously I just bought it and I love it right now. Hopefully it holds up well in Florida climate.

I purchased this as a return but it was supposed to be in excellent condition. Upon opening the box I saw why it had been returned. The main support on the seat had been broken. Fortunately my husband and I were undeterred and we clamped, glued and screwed the bench back together. However once we assembled the bench we noticed a multitude of scratches, gouges, dings and missing paint. Again we DIYed the thing. It is comfortable. It is sturdy. But if you buy the black finish, do not expect it to be worthy of sitting inside of your home. The finishing is severely lacking and even though this bench had been returned, the box had not been damaged. I suspect the bench was boxed up “as is” from the factory—broken. At this price point, just don’t do it.

Purchased this bench to honor our school secretary who has retired. Went together really easy. Sits level. Only weakness is the back seems a bit thin or flimsy. We have it against a wall in the school hallway so it should be fine. Nice color and finish. Nice design. Sits 2 adults easily. Good price.

Beautiful

The first bench would not fit together because the middle support on the seat was not centered. Returned for refund. The replacement was packaged sloppily (looked as if it had already been rejected by someone else) but I measured the support that was a problem on the first one and it was good. However, the front support D has major chips along the front edge at the end and the middle. I am not even going to unwrap the other pieces. Very disappointed. It is a great design and the white finish looks very nice but damage is not acceptable even at $457. Will return this one too.

Went together well. Feels firm. A few cracks in the white paint finish but over all a good deal
