Knitting & Crocheting All-in-One For Dummies

The book itself has very easy content to follow. Down side paid for a new book but received it in used condition missing a couple pages, bent and the back cover is ripped.

I am new to knitting and someone recommended the "dummies" knitting book. When I saw that this one included crocheting, I decided to purchase this one instead. I think I should have bought the one dedicated to knitting. This book explains techniques, but doesn't include as many patterns as I had hoped would be in the book.

Great for people who are looking to take up knitting and crocheting . This book is so easy and fun to learn these great needlework hobbies. Great for all levels from beginner to expert. Well written and the diagrams and patterns are easy to follow. Highly recommend, you won't need a whole bunch of other instruction books, just this one.

Wonderful and knowledgeable book that teaches a great deal and makes it fun.

Quite a few sections of the book have been ripped or cut out, and it it tagged by the previous owner of the leaf of sections. Overall very unhappy with this purchase.

My grandmother crocheted for as long as I can remember. She taught me how to make a granny square. It’s the largest granny square I’ve ever seen, but I have a lot of practice. Recently I saw an interesting pattern and decided I wanted to make an afghan. I know enough to crochet something, but I also know I need to refine my skills for good results. This one-stop guide to needle-arts is comprised of seven books, including “Getting Started”, ”Knitting Basics”, ”Crocheting Basics”, ”Expanding Your Skills”, ”Popular Projects”, ”Sweaters”, and “Finishing Touches”.I don’t currently care about knitting and am looking for guidance on specific crochet topics. This book is simple to find the information you need without reading all 630 pages. For my purposes, I skipped through Book 1: “Getting Started” to focus on the crochet sections, then jumped to Book 3: “Crocheting Basics”. There is plenty more to read if I get the urge, but this is enough for me to get started.The chapters are easy to read and understand. The information helped answer questions like managing and controlling tension. It also filled in some knowledge gaps and pointed out beginner issues to watch for. This is my attempt at a real crochet project, and this book has been a big help.The quality of this book’s construction is typical of the Dummies series. The paper is thin and easily shows signs of use. My copy of this book has a curled cover and bent page corners simply from carrying the book around and reading it a few times. Hopefully, this book lasts as long as I feel the need to use it.If you’re like me and want to learn more about needle-art basics, the Knitting & Crocheting All-In-One for Dummies is a must-read book. I must be even dumber than I thought, because as a complete novice, this book is pretty useless. It’s like it’s written in a foreign language. Waste of money for me

I thought it would be a great idea to buy a combo book for referencing stitches and such as I am already a crochet and knitter. BUT nope. It is like a shuffled deck of cards. Some pages on knitting, then they toss a couple stitches of crochet in to learn, then back to showing you how to knit a cable, and so on. Might be great for some, but annoying for me to not be able to just jump to crochet stitches as I am crocheting or to be able to go to a section on knitting if that is what I am picking up to do. Illustrations and such are great as far as I can see it would do the job of teaching (although you would have to flip back and forth from knitting to crocheting all the time). But to use for a book to look something up, I would pass.
