~~ Great telescope for beginners of all ages ~~
This telescope and all the extras make this a great choice for beginners. Taking pictures using the phone holder was a little bit a of a challenge to set up. You have to align the phone just right. Then there is the wobble to contend with and the motion of the objects in the sky. I tried the holder with my Note 4 in its Otter box and it fitted. However, getting any decent pictures through it was difficult which may be the fault of the phone. I tried with a different phone, Moto G, and was able to get the slightly blurry photo of the moon as shown. I then manually aligned the phone and held it in place by hand and was able to get the other two photos, which are a lot clearer, attached. Now maybe the setting on the phone can be adjusted to overcome the focus issues. I tried, but wanted to spend more time looking around than fiddling with the phone. Just know that getting the your phone setup just right in the holder and just the right picture is going to take a little work.I found the image clear and easy to focus. The red dot pointer is fantastic. Simply switch it on and look through the sight and align the red dot on the object and the whole telescope is pretty much on target.During testing I found the magnification to be fine using the regular lens for the moon. The weather here has been poor during testing and the timing of the planets rising has been late, but just looking at the moon has been fabulous and had all of us, including the kids going "Wow".The whole telescope is lightweight and compact and this is great for storing and moving it around. However this means that the slightest touch during viewing makes the image wobble a bit. The tripod is stable and has retractable points on the feet so that it can stay still in soft ground and can sit on a house floor without scratching it. There is plenty of height for a tall person and plenty to shorten it for little ones.Easy setup, but the legs fit tightly into the base so I had to get the alignment just right. At one point I thought I'd have to bend the connectors to get them in place, then I took a little more time and found that careful alignment and a simple push made the whole process a lot easier! I loved the fact that everything came in separate boxes. It made setup a lot less daunting.Included in the box along with the telescope:Activity Booklet * Adventure Guide * Assembly and Uses Guide * Stellarium virtual planetarium software (Windows and Mac) * MeteoriteAll of the extras make this a good package for beginners and we look forward to using this many times. In fact we have left it set up in our "yard" so that it can be accessed at any time. Product provided in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Richard

Easy To Set-Up Telescope With Nice Optics
This is the first telescope that I've owned and overall I am pretty impressed with the results. Setting the unit up was fairly easy and did not take me more than about a half-hour to put it together while watching tv at the same time. The legs are nice and secure but did not go together easily, a little bit of pressure and tapping was needed to get them into place Once put together the unit is very secure. While we haven't had too many great nights yet to test this out the results so far are promising. To give you an idea of the magnification I pointed this telescope at my neighbors' house which is about a couple hundred feet away and focusing on the roof the viewfinder was filled with about 8 normal sized shingles. Panning down to a window and the viewfinder was filled with just the wood trim on the window. The optics overall seem very good, and quite a bit better than I was expecting for a telescope in the $200 range. Getting things dialed in can take a bit of time and practice but once you get the hang of it things are easy.Overall this is a nicely built telescope that I would have loved as a kid. A nice, easy way to explore the sky and for those in a high rise to explore what is going on in the neighborhood. Recommended.Sample provided for review.

Nice Quality
Very well made, sturdy materials. My 9 yr old granddaughter had been askng for a telescope. I read features and reviews and chose this as both age appropriate and with her parents' participation and enjoyment in mind.

The telescope does not work
This telescope does not work. We bought this telescope at christmas for our son. We did not able to use during the winter time. We set it up following the instructions and it does not work. We have tried several times since the spring and summer and it has not worked. We reviewed the instruction ensuring its not operator error and still it does not work. We spent a lot of money on this gift and it was absolutely disappointing. We would love to have it actually function and keep it but at this time I regret buying.

It's quite alright for the price and quality. Great for kids telescope
For a kid's telescope, its quite alright. Mostly everything looks blurry and the zoom is somewhat ok. The little phone attachment is a great addon!I'm including a photo I took of the moon (with my iPhone) so you can see the quality of the zoom.

Very Disappointing
I am extremely disappointed in this telescope and I won't recommend it for anyone.Product delivery - the product arrived on time and well packaged, looked very good and my 4 year old was super excited when the delivery man dropped it off.Set up - the product set was a difficult but because I am experienced in setting up things like this I was able to get it done in about 1.5 hour. It will definitely be difficult for a first timer.Performance - this was extremely disappointing for everyone in the house that tried viewing the moon using this telescope, we were not able to see any image except at a very close distance which defeats the purpose of the telescope. The lens was very blurry and could not pick a single image.Instruction manual - the instruction manual was not helpful, this company should improve on the instruction manual.Overall satisfaction - extremely very disappointed, I will return it and request for refund.

Great product, got a unlucky and got a damaged one
Cool telescope, super excited, spent $50 on the one day shipping, set everything up, love the telescope, however when I would move the scope up and down there was a defective loose piece, I'm just one of the Unlucky people who got a defective / damaged in transit product. Would I order one again, a little hesitant as to my experience, but Amazon has always had my back and refunding me so we'll see what happens. Just giving my real time experience for people who are viewing this productWould have given one star, however I love the style build quality I just ended up with a damaged product.I really love this telescope and will be ordering another one, definitely will get 5 stars if it is not damaged in transit or defective.

To the moon and beyond!
We’ve seen the moon, Mars, and Jupiter. Don’t get it twisted though, the planets just look like little blurry spots. That said, this was a gift for my kid, who is in amazement with this thing. Looking at the craters on the moon is so exciting. Giving four stars because I find the dials to do micro movements make the tripod jump a bit. Makes it difficult to look at a star. Sometimes it takes a while to line up the scope too. Other than that, love this thing.

easy to assemble and looks very professional
This Telescope has exceeded my expectations. Very well packaged, easy to assemble and looks very professional. I just hope I can learn how to use it before I give it to my 8 year old granddaughter for Christmas. Please let me know if you have books I can reference and accessories. As I wrote in my feedback I am HIGHLY PLEASED.
