How do you keep the head secure? Have used it several times and now the head just slides down the handle. Have tried the tapping but it loosen again

Same thing happened to me! I used a single inch-long cross-head screw, inserted at an angle, just to secure the head on the handle. Made sure the head was wedged as far up the halde as I could manage, and then added the screw. It's had hundreds of hours of use since then - still going strong!

I’m sorry I can’t tell you the actual wood of the handle only that it’s a good and smooth wood with no roughness to it .
