Loved it, absolutely loved it!
Fast paced and full of twists and turns, this book also had a human side. The author's description of the mother/daughter relationship and the feelings it created in both was so realistic. I also liked how she slowly revealed how this schism occurred, and how the main character slowly got swept up in her whirlwind romance. There was also this question of her past after she left home that lingered in the background, as a possible reason she was being pursued. Loved the book.

Fast-paced thriller with heart
I really enjoyed this, particularly the mother-daughter relationship. A woman survives a private plane crash but is presumed dead. Her estranged mother refuses to give up faith that she’s still alive, and sets out unravelling what happened. The narrative jumps back and forth between mom & daughter as we learn that after surviving, the daughter is now running for her life and trying to rescue her mother from the conspiracy that put her on the plane to begin with. It’s good from the start, but it really picks up in the middle and races to the end. My only issue was it changes from present to past tense between narrators despite being in the same time line. This was likely a stylistic choice, but I found it a bit jarring at times. Also, as a San Diegan, I really enjoyed the local descriptions!

Truly a Page Turner
Freefall was one of those thrillers I couldn’t put down. I liked the strength of the protagonists, Ally and her Mother Maggie, although I found some of Ally’s accomplishments as she attempts to cross the Rocky Mountains somewhat unbelievable, they certainly made for an entertaining read. I liked the way the novel was organized switching between Ally and Maggie’s points of view and also the way Ally’s memories reveal her back story. The book also deals with a serious subject about the possible corruption in certain pharmaceutical companies and the FDA. It’s frightening to think that this part of the story may be accurate. Overall, a great read.

way over-hyped
This is a compelling read - compelling enough that I finished it. However, I was frustrated along the way. I felt like the author was manipulating the reader too much by throwing in little details but not enough to sink my teeth into. Didn't really like any of the characters except the Mother. For the protagonist to act in the way she did, especially before she wises up, I wanted to understand why she made the choices she did. This was sorely lacking. Seems like she likely had some kind of trauma to be so desperate and naive. So, it's okay but certainly not great.

A Mothers Story
I enjoyed the plot of this Mother/Daughter drama. Their estrangement was sad but understandable. I loved the Mothers persistence to uncover the truth. (No spoilers here). This tale is every parents nightmare. As a mom, I found it to be a real page turner to the climactic end. An engrossing, quick read with well developed characters. I would read this author again.

Wildly thrilling!
Jessica Barry’s thriller FREEFALL is wildly thrilling and shockingly scary. A private plane has crashed in the mountains in Colorado, piloted by the only survivor’s fiancé, destination unknown. The survivor instinctually knows that she must run. She is in trouble and her continued fight for her life is imperative. While seemingly impossible, that with the extent of her injuries, she will reach safety, the weaving of the character’s struggle along with her mother’s search for her whereabouts is what draws you in. The suspense builds incrementally and then, as danger increases, you are almost gasping for breath with each turn of the page.

A smartly written thriller, sad it is over
What a great book; suspenseful, engaging, true to the genre but fresh at the same time. I immediately went to go see what Jessica Barry novel I was going to read next, but I come to find out it is a debut novel. So here's to waiting for the next one.Total side note - but this hardcover has one of the best looking covers and would make a great gift. It lives on my coffee table and several people commented on how good it looked.

A book of a mother’s love for her only child
Okay so the mother Maggie and daughter Allison became estranged after Allison’s fathers death. “SPOILER ALERT” There is one major thing I don’t like about the book, one brief point they said the husband was dying from colon cancer and as a last resort he got o a clinical trial. It was supposed to add 6 mths-1yr on his life. He immediately dropped weight, his life expectancy dropped to 3 mths, 1 mth but was told he couldn’t withdraw from study. I don’t believe that at all. I think they need to do better research, I had ulcerative colitis for 10 yrs and was on trials from lack of insurance & not one of the 20 + trials was I ever told I couldn’t withdraw. My story turned out better I went into remission by myself & have been there for 20+ yrs.

Blissful
This is my second book from this author. She has painted an exquisite picture of all the themes of the book. The writing style of the author is so aesthetic and grandiloquent. It's not easy to understand these poems as they are very deep and they are very lyrical as well. She has used a lot of poetic devices which makes it an interesting read. The poems are written very gloriously with a motive to explore your feelings. I think the author has done a great job of bringing out the feelings that the book wants to convey. She has captured the essentials of the human soul with her pen. It is a great book and a fast read which is going to captivate you with blissful poetries. The words of the poems give you a feeling of self-satisfaction and happiness. However, it’s not my recommendation for beginners as it has a lot of poetic devices. You can try out another book called dearest love from her and then read this one.

The best thriller you'll read this year
Freefall hits the ground running in more ways than one - fast paced, it manages to keep the reader guessing and is vividly well-written and nicely structured - but the story also succeeds on several other levels. In particular, the mother-daughter relationship manages to be nuanced and complex without weighing the book down, as is Barry's excellent, unapologetic portrayal of a conflicted central character who has suffered loss, made mistakes, become dependent on others, even lost her sense of self. In other words, like any well-drawn character, Allison starts out flawed. At the heart of this story is the journey she then takes to take back control of her own life and find redemption. This depth in a thriller is the kind of thing that creates a modern classic. Bravo, Jessica Barry.

It's all about LOVE
Freefall is the sudden, rapid decline without any resistance. An endless downward hurtle with only enough momentum to keep us barely alive. This book us a collection of verses and writeups that make you fall into the abyss of melancholy and love. The words have a tinge of long lost love & separation, deep enough to sink in our hearts.I have read the her ' Dearest Love' collection and her style of writing is similar. The emotions though fresh are repetitive and writing is dreamy but vague and needs more poetic elements. Will recommend to poetry lovers.
