A Great Vertical Slice of the Last Couple Decades of Gaming
I purchased this book for myself. Some light bathroom reading when I forget my phone. I didn't know it have a 'checklist' on the back pages to track and rate these masterful games. So, it's been fun looking back and rating the games that I've played and to try to complete the others. From another perspective. My fiance has sent some time looking through the page long pictures, finding games that seem to appeal to her and reading about them. She's not the biggest gamer, but she's learning that there is more out there then just Mario and Crash Bandicoot. All in all, the book is well written and is presented in bit size chucks for quick reads. Get for gaming newcomers to get a vertical slice of the best games and fun for connoisseurs that are looking to fill some gaming gaps and a burst of nostalgia.GLHF

Full disclosure, I work with Chris. But I also think this is a great book. Watters is one of the best writers I personally know, and his style and humor shine in this list of games to play before you die.

The layout is easy on the eyes
The guy clearly put his heart in this book. The layout is easy on the eyes, it's well written, and many of the games on the list are indeed essential. My only gripe is he left out some historically important titles in favor of modern successes. He states in the intro that the construction of this list was difficult, and I don't doubt that. However, there is no excuse for leaving out Doom, Pac-Man,and Metal Gear Solid for the likes of Kerbal Space Program, Surgeon Simulator and Nidhogg. You can say it's a matter of opinion I suppose. But that's exactly what I'm expressing here. I don't think this book reflects what a "Gamer's Bucket List" should be.

Chris Watters is amazing and so is this book. Great picks for your gaming bucket list, including some underrated gems! Can't wait to complete my list!

The author chooses games that are in vogue right now; games that certainly won't be remembered in 5 years time. His writing is brief and lacks detail. All in all a very disappointing book.

Not a terrible little book
OK so this is for the Product itself, my second hand copy was in perfect condition and couldn't be happier at the physical state in arrived in.The book itself is pretty average, I wasn't expecting anything amazing but it's just riddled with spelling errors and stolen screenshots.
