Really good mouse
add this mouse for a couple years now and worked really well! Can’t say that I had not a single problem with it. I even got one from my wife and she loves it.

From the company that brought the world the best mouse ever, the 718.
I bought this just so I could leave a verified purchase review and ask Perixx to bring back the 718, which was the pinacle of mouse-design. Here is my review of the 718:came here 5 years later to say the 718 is the best mouse ever designed. Wrist pain never came back, and the big grip in the back is so helpful. I can push it with the thumb muscle in my palm, and it's a nice place to set the curve of my first thumb joint. The rubberized grip should have been adopted by every other vertical mouse-maker years ago. Plastic mice are disgustingly slippery, making finger and claw-grip usage extremely unpleasant, and not even an option. I have found that I naturally switch between grips, myself.Another diamond-in-the-rough aspect of this design is the fall-off of the buttons toward the top of the mouse. When I need a really precise click, my brain has made it second-nature to push my click down from the tip of my finger. I don't have those gun-trigger type misclicks like in other verticle mice, where the pressure from the click itself moves the mouse sideways just enough to make you miss what you are trying to click on.I really wish they would bring this design back in all black and with silent clicks.OH, and another thing is the little wing on the bottom. When I am using a palm grip on the mouse it is so nice not to be dragging the side of my palm on my mouse pad or desk, drying out my skin. Other vertical mice do that to the side of my hand, and it is very unpleasant. This thing needs more recognition and needs to be put in production again. I need a wired one for the lab, on for the office, and a another just in case my main one brakes.

Bought my second one because the first worked so well, now the scroll wheel isn't working (Updated)
Update 1/12/24 - Added one star back because I emailed customer service and after brief troubleshooting, they sent a new unit to me which i received within a couple of days. The new one works great and the customer service was attentive and prompt. As stated above, I bought one of these Perixx trackballs and it worked great. I'm not a gamer, but I spend hours in front of multiple computers all day doing regular business-type activities. I bought a second track ball for another computer and it worked great until the scroll wheel stopped working about 3 months after I bought it - it jumps around and stopped scrolling smoothly - like other reviews have mentioned. The first one is still working great.

Good value, great customer service
I bought this because I couldn't find a wired version of the Logitech thumb trackball (M575), as there seems to be some wireless interference at my location. The Perimice-520 is comparable to the Logitech M575, with an extra button between the two main ones. It includes a couple of plastic insets that add lift and angle; I don't use them but they do fit snugly.Much like the M575, it's great for ordinary tasks, and is more comfortable than using a mouse. Very little thumb movement is required for crossing screen real estate. However, this same advantage makes it awkward when you need pixel precision, such as aiming in a game.Perixx software is provided for assigning actions to buttons, adjusting sensitivity and so on. There's a macro feature for creating reusable actions. The software interface lacks polish but it works fine. The first one I bought had a gradually defective scroll wheel. Customer service promptly replaced it with about a one week turnaround between my first communication and product delivery at my doorstep.

Wide Footprint & Ball Action Not All that Smooth
I've had this mouse for about a month at this point. My job requires me to be at the computer all day and a trackball style mouse saves me a tremendous amount of fatigue and I've used them for a few years. I purchased this mouse to replace another trackball mouse. Additionally, I have a trackball mouse at home and in my office, so I'd say I have a thorough understanding of their operation. The first thing I noticed about this mouse as soon as I put my hand on it was how wide it felt compared to any other I've used. Later that night I got a message from my son wanting to know if the mouse was replaced because it felt so wide. While the shape conforms well to your hand, the wide stance makes it feel a little odd. If you have small hands, this may not be the mouse for you.The other thing I noticed was action of the mouse ball was not completely smooth, which makes it difficult to control the cursor in some instances. Again, this was right out of the box so it had no time to get any type of oil, film, etc. on the ball from my hand. I did pull the ball out and wipe it down which helped, but not entirely. It has a high/ low DPI setting, but you can feel this is a mechanical issue with the ball rolling in the socket and not an electronic issue. I'm not sure if the issue is with the ball or the pads it rolls on at the sensors in the socket. The App the mouse uses to configure the various buttons is nice. The mouse does have an impressive array of buttons. Example, not only does the mouse wheel click up/ down, it also click left and right...you can individually select an action for each. I have my index finger buttons set to control Copy/ Paste and the mouse wheel set to control my PC audio (click the wheel down for Mute, left to reduce volume, and right to increase volume). While probably not unique to this mouse it's very nice. The App has a Macro Manager in it. While I have not yet used it, it looks like you can record a macro and assign it to one of the mouse buttons. That seems to be a unique feature to this mouse which is very nice. So long as it works in apps such as Word, Excel, etc...again, I have not yet tried it.Summary:If you have smaller hands this may not be the mouse for you. If you do a lot of very close-quarter mouse movements (graphics, etc..) this may not be the mouse for you. I have a graphics tablet so any graphics work I do is not affected, however, it has occasionally been an issue even while trying to position the cursor over buttons in word, excel, etc.. Not enough that I feel the need to replace it, but enough to notice and be a little frustrating. However, the Macro Manager feature may be the Pro that outweighs any other Con.
