Cool toy but make sure to not have any hair or dirt near by
Very very cool toy but if there’s any hair or dirt in the pool or bath tub. It will break easily.

Incredibly popular with younger children
My 5 year old son sleeps with this shark. I imagine the designers had a tough time coming up with a recommended age for this toy. My kids only are allowed to use it in the bathtub, but they love it anyway. Obviously, a younger child should not be allowed to use this unsupervised near a pool or open water. Also, the battery compartments require jewler's screwdrivers and a delicate touch. And the remote is not waterproof. All of these would lead to making this appropriate for older kids. But oh, how my son loves it. He squeals with delight as he tries to capsize a hapless Lego pirate in a rowboat and takes care to dry the shark off after use. If you have a young child who loves sea creatures and you're willing to closely supervise him/her, then this is perfect.

This is TRASH
The red flags started when trying to put the batteries in. It's difficult to open the cover where you install the batteries. Once they we're installed I put the shark in my pool, it just went around in a circle, the controller didn't work then the shark just stop working. I had to go through the whole process of removing the cover to check the batteries. After I replaced the wet batteries and tighten the cover, I put the shark back in the water and got the same results. This thing is a POS...don't waste your money. I'm returning for a full refund.

Awesome!
This thing is awesome! Does what it says for sure. It uses 2 aaa batteries so when it dies we just change out the rechargeables and the fun doesn't stop. I won't let the kids change the batteries because those screws would be easy to strip on tightening. DON'T PICK UP BY THE TAIL. I'm not saying it's flimsy but the pivots aren't designed to take the stress. They could make it out of titanium but then it would be $300.00 and out of my price range. For what I paid, me and the cats think it's one of the best investments I've made of late. Is five stars too much? Yup shark shark has some be a little careful issues but all in all knowing that it's great fun.

Underwhelmed
I bought this from a recommendation from a friend. I was a bit underwhelmed. I think I invented how cool it could be in my head, so it was a bit of a let down. Putting the batteries in took 3 adults almost an hour the first time. Those screws were in impossibly tight. The tail fell off before it ever got to the pool. It snaps back easy but the shock definitely brought some tears. It doesn’t have precise steering. And it goes pretty slow, so you’re not going to chase it. And the first time the controller got wet, it stopped working. So, underwhelmed.

Great toy for older kids!
This thing is awesome. It moves like a snake through the water. The only cons: remote is NOT waterproof (makes it hard to play with in the pool and a 4 year old!) also it says it goes backwards but it more just stops, not go in reverse (not a big deal at all to me but worth noting).

Have to be careful when letting kids handle remotes around pool and/or water
Actually controls like real shark would swim… got two different kinds for my boys on SHARKWEEK.. worked great in pool… this MODELwas a lot better than the other brand. Remote not being water proof is the only issue with kids using it by the pool… input the remotes on gallon zip locks which helped.. kids had fun “swimming with sharks” lol. It’s fun and the kids (3-6) were operating them fine.
