Pros and Cons from a first time buyer
I bought a John Deere LA110 mower from a neighbor who moved. I've owned it for about two years, but think it's about 10+ years old.I know my way around small engines but I'm far from a gear head. Rather than send the mower for maintenance at a local shop (about $150 where I live), I decided to do this myself. Here's my review and some tips.PROS:The kit arrived in under 4 days. It had NO instructions. The LA110 mower comes with variants on the air filter, depending on the vintage of the machine, but everything in the kit was a perfect match. I was pleased and surprised.I relied on YouTube to figure out how much oil I needed (it came with two quarts, but the machine only takes 1 1/2 quarts. CHECK YOUR MOWER REQUIREMENTS AND DON'T ASSUME YOU'LL NEED ALL TWO QUARTS).Changing the air filter and oil took 20 minutes. Easy. Then came the spark plug and inline gas filter...CONS:My kit didn't come with ANY clips for the inline gas filter, and the mower didn't have a filter in place with clips attached. Not a big deal, but I'm surprised the kit didn't include them. Check your mower and consider buying the clips if you need them.It's not clear to me if the spark plug gap has been set for the mower already, or if I'm expected to set the spark gap myself. I've looked online and not a clear answer... So I haven't replaced that yet.J Deere really should include some simple instructions and filter clips in this kit. Nothing is hard to do, but it would be helpful to know some of the basics. I also don't understand why they don't include recommendations on how often to do the oil and filter changes -- they could sell more stuff and help me out!Hope this helps.

Really takes 2 quarts?
This is a great kit for the L108.. easy and seems like quality parts. My only question is does it really take 2 quarts? I drained and put in the 2 quarts and the tractor smoked a bit when riding at a angle or in sharp turns like it was over filled 😞😓
