Superficial and uninsightful
I am surprised by all the positive reviews. I found the book superficial and lacking in any real insight. I find it strange that the author shares a surname with Daniel Goleman, the title seems intended to make us think this is a later (improved?) version of the 1995 book with a very similar title, yet it appears to be a different author and there is no statement such as "no relation" or any indication in this regard. It's not easy to find definitive evidence of how or whether the authors are related. I am left with the impression of a deliberate attempt to mislead. I do not recommend this book unfortunately.

Not The Goleman
Whether a fortuitus accident or an effort to cash in on a similar name, I missed the fact that this book is not a newer version of Daniel Goleman's original book on this topic (which I have not read yet, but was intending to when I bought this), but a somewhat shallow and simplistic handbook by a completely unrelated author who does not seem to have any readily apparent credentials with this topic. This book still gets three stars from me because it does a good job of hitting the high points and organizing the discussion, but it certainly does not dive deep and the tone can come across as vaguely arrogant and condescending at times toward those that may have a low EQ but who are interested in improving it (otherwise why read a book on EQ in the first place?). It reads more like a long blog post strong on opinion and somewhat light on facts or well researched, well documented science. It may still be a good into into the subject for those without the desire to read a more profound work.

Disappointed
This seems more or less like a college term paper. It seems like they had to use a larger print to make it seem longer so they can call it a book and charge you a premium for it. It's more of a booklet than an actual book. There are some decent points, but there are much better resources out there. I wish I could get a refund...

Not worth it
Are there some useful nuggets of knowledge in it? Sure. But, when a book starts off by telling you you will solve all your problems by reading it, it's a very clear signal that the book will not do that at all. Does this teach you emotional intelligence: not remotely. Does it reference research? No. It hops around from thought to thought. The author, to his credit asks for advice at the end. Here is some advice from an author: this sounds like the first book you have ever written. It should not have seen the light of day. I encourage you to keep writing and improving your skills, but this is not a successful book. It feels like the commentary of a book without any bones. It is a book missing all the proof and the things that make people want to keep reading. This was not worth the money I paid.

Un-Insightful with Typos
This book was a self-published dud. It repeated many of the generalized ideas of Emotional Intelligence without offering any new insight. Every time this typo ridden, poorly formatted, book seemed to be on the cusp of offering a new solution the chapter ends leaving you wanting. The book as a whole reads like a poorly written term paper that was copy and pasted into a paperback without any thought of editing the formatting, which presents a majority of the data in a confusing way.The book culminates in a quiz intended to show you how Emotional Intelligent you are. Even this leaves the reader disappointed - with very little creativity as to how it was made. Here’s a hint- if you want to feel good about yourself, just circle true on everything).Buy the ebook for 1.99, it's probably worth that. But if you spend the 16.99 for a hard copy, you won’t be compelled to keep it on your bookshelf, and you'll have a hard time finding someone to take it off your hands.

Emotional Intelligence
Unoriginal book. Poorly written. Very disappointed.

Short and lacks a deeper dive -- reads like a summary essay
My thoughts are that this seemed to have been written as an essay in response to Daniel Goldman's "Emotional Intelligence". The author seems to repeat themselves in multiple places and can come across very condescending in certain places. While it took me 2 hours to read (very very small book), it lacks depth, but I will say it's given me a taste for the deeper dive of Daniel Goleman's book.....so 3 stars for effort. I'd recommend just going for Daniel's.

Not worth it
This book provided some good reminders about Emotional Intelligence. Although it wasn’t very revelatory. There were allot of typos and awkward sentences. It was also not very solutions based. Summed up in one sentence: Be an adult and know how to act in certain social situations. This book didn’t teach you how to do that.

Very one-sided and actually offensive
I am currently writing an essay for a module on EQ. this book seemed like a great book to read for research and quotes. However, instead Brandon Coleman writes as if he is the king of EQ and holds the highest EQ of any person. I'm now going to quote the book and see what you think... "[The Data-loving Vampire] Do not stick around thinking this one will change. Often, the overdramatic energy vampire never changes. They just evolve into something else, sometimes a worse version of themselves [...] run for your life".In a book about understanding yourself, if you are someone who loves a bit of drama, I can guess you would be very offended by this. Goleman has just told everyone to run away from you and that you will never change or just become worse. to add to this. He hasn't even offered a helpful response or offered a way to help the 'drama-lovers' become more emotionally aware. To top off my review of how awful this book is, it doesn't even have a registered publisher! The page at the front where a publishers details should be simply says "published by: Brandon Goleman"! As a student who has to write a million bibliographies a year, this is a huge red flag!

Interesting introduction
Interesting read on the topic, first one for me and it felt like a good introduction that you can finish in a few days. That being said, it felt a bit light and the subject probably deserve additional readings to develop a stronger understand and internalise more of it.
