COVID-19 IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR COLORADIANS AND LOVERS OF THE STATE TO LEARN TIDBITS ABOUT IT
In this book, the author’s ELEVENTH outing in the series, Bill O’Neill turns his attention for his readers to inform them about trivia tidbits about Colorado: while some are commonplace, like:How did Colorado get its name? Why is it known as the “Centennial State”?While others turn out to be quite interesting and surprising, like:Which patriotic song was written in the state?Which famous comic strip characters were based on actual people from Colorado?Which historical sporting event was first held in the Centennial State?Using the same format as he used in his previous books in this series, the book is broken down as follows:In each of the six chapters, we're told about:1- Colorado’s History2- Colorado’s Pop Culture3- Colorado’s Inventions, Ideas and More4- Colorado’s Attractions5- Colorado’s Sports6- Colorado’s Sports Urban Legends, Unsolved Mysteries, And Other Weird Facts!Mr. O’Neill begins each chapter by taking an item regarding its topic and gives his readers a brief, yet informative description of about it, this is followed by some random facts, which is then culminated by his giving some questions related to the information which the chapter has just given, naturally the answers are given as well. All in all, this book is a wonderful compendium of informational trivia, from the simplistic to the interesting to the amazing, trivia which should be quite interesting to anyone who loves trivia; especially those who live in Colorado or have their roots there. For wanting to share the information he’s gathered with everyone who reads it, I’ve given Mr. O’Neill the 5 STARS he’s garnered from this reviewer and lover of trivia books.

The ’Centennial State’
Author Bill O’Neill has authored many books on Trivia and stands as somewhat of an expert in this field! His topics include movies, football, baseball, wars, rock music, simply random trivia facts and now States. This volume is American Trivia (a subset that grows broader by the hour these days!). To set the mood of this eleventh volume (NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, TEXAS, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, ALASKA, OHIO, HAWAII, NORTH CAROLINA, MICHIGAN were the first) on COLORADO, Bill states, ‘How much do you know about the state of Colorado? Of course you know it’s one of the top place in the country to go skiing and that it’s every nature lover’s dream, but how much do you really know about the state? Do you know how Colorado got its name or how it earned the nickname of the “Centennial State”? Do you know what led people to migrate to the state or why its population increases to this day? Did you know that dinosaurs once roamed Colorado…Do you know about the famous Colorado sandwich that Elvis Presley once traveled across the country for?...’ And Bill’s little introduction puts the spice into the following collection of facts about Colorado. The book is divided into fascinating sections that will help you learn more about this famous state - Colorado’s history and random facts, pop culture inventions, attractions, sports, ideas and more (a hidden military base, the home of a vampire’s grave, haunted towns and parks, the fact that UFOs are attracted to one area there, dinosaurs might still live there, mysteries and conspiracy theories) - all the trivia that Bill O’Neill shares! Not only is the book entertaining – it is also very instructive for every reader. Have fun, learn, and be ready for the next gathering of very smart friends! You’ll be on top. Grady Harp, April 20

This Is An Excellent Informative Book About Colorado.
This is an excellent informative book about Colorado. I liked this book because I learned some new facts about Colorado that I did not know before reading this book. I read the book to increase my personal knowledge and for pleasure. Some of the interesting information that is mentioned in this book includes the following information: The lyrics of the song America The Beautiful was written while Katherine Lee Bates was at the top of Pikes Peak overlooking Colorado Springs back in 1893. What some people might not know is that the words weren't originally intended to be a song. The song lyrics were first published as a poem. It wasn't until 1910 that Katherine Lee Bates' poem became a song. Denver City was named after James Denver who was Governor of the Kansas Territory. In 1881, the city's name was shortened to Denver. It might surprise some people to learn that even in spite of its high elevation, Pikes Peak is actually not the highest mountain in Colorado. In fact, it only ranks at Number 31 in Colorado. The highest mountain in the state of Colorado which has an elevation of 14,433 feet is Mt. Elbert. Today, there are approximately 500 ghost towns in Colorado and 650 active towns in Colorado. The high number of ghost towns is the result of the mining industry. Denver ranks at Number 2 for cities in the United States with most beer breweries. With more than 158 breweries, Denver is surpassed only by Chicago, the Beer Capital of the United States.

I just moved to Colorado
The Great Book of Trivia by Bill O'Neill is a timely information source for me about my newly adopted state. I enjoyed different sections about legends, history, and just plain trivia, and the book has enhanced my appreciation for this truly great state. My daughter has enjoyed it, as have her kids when I point things out to them. In fact, once the state lifts travel restrictions due to the coronavirus, this book will become a source of knowing where to go and things to do. If you're a Coloradan without a copy of this book on your Kindle or in your car, you are missing many opportunities to develop a greater appreciation for this great state.

Could be good, but can't get over the typos
Honestly, I want to really be excited about this book. I'm now on page 92 and I am to the point where I don't trust the book because there are typos and grammatical errors all over the place. It's painful to read and discredits it. Clearly, an editor didn't read this and therefore, it makes me less trusting that it is accurate information.
