Thoughtful Reflections, Beautiful Pictures, and Vivid Descriptions
Anyone who shares our love of exploring the National Parks or anyone that wants to learn about them in a unique way (not the typical travel guide) should check out this book. It is very well done! Each National Park is presented as a devotional with a unique theme and questions to reflect on your own life and faith journey and a reminder of the One who created it all. It has beautiful pictures and vivid descriptions of the sights and sounds in each park that can easily stir up memories of past trips or make you want to see it in person.

A must read for Christians who love our national parks
As fellow park lovers, my husband and I have really enjoyed this book. We especially appreciate the biblical perspective and the reminders that God’s creativity, power, and beauty are in full display in His creation. We are well into our quest to visit all of the parks, and this book was a great traveling companion on our journey.

Perfect
This book is so excellent. Our national parks are wondrous and are described here from a faith perspective that is gentle and true. My husband and I took 3 years in retirement traveling to our national, state and local parks. Best thing we ever did! We must continue to cherish and protect these lands.

Beautiful, engaging, spiritual and practical
I picked up America's Holy Ground: 60 Faithful Reflections on Our National Parks and was immediately drawn to it’s size and attractive photos. It seems meant to be a beautiful travel companion whether it is taken to work, school, on the road to one of the parks described or tucked in a pack next to rain gear and trail mix to provide sustenance while visiting one of these sacred spaces. When thumbing through the chapters, I began close to home with the chapter about the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and was delighted to find that between the incredible photographs there were a combination of travel tips, spiritual insights and personal invitation. Each chapter intersects the location of a park with a theme like connection, restoration, and sabbath. For the Great Smokey Mountain Chapter the theme was diversity. A perfect choice for one of the more ecologically diverse places in America. While the invitation to explore diversity of flora and fauna was helpful, the real invitation for me was to continue to become more aware of the human diversity around me. I found myself moving between the forests and my own city connecting the beauty of God’s diversity as well as acknowledging the threats to healthy diversity in mountains and cities to creation and community. Once I read this chapter, I immediately wanted to share it and had an opportunity when I read part of it as a devotional for a spiritual small group I help lead. America’s Holy Ground was passed around the office where I work with Forest Ecologists, Water Conservationists and Equity Professionals each expressing their appreciation for this compilation of spiritual jewels. I have not had the opportunity to read it while in one of the parks but look forward to doing so in the weeks ahead. The ways this book can be appreciated and used is as diverse as the gifts of our National Parks. May you find awe, wonder and delight as you read it, as I did.
