Dr. Mercola Complete Probiotics, 70 Billion CFU, 90 Capsules (90 Servings)

Wanted to provide some balance to the negative reviews here. I have been on probiotics for about 10 years as a primary tool to manage colitis and gastritis issues. I consider myself somewhat of a "connoinseur" of probiotics. I have tried all kinds and observed the response. They are not all equal. I do rotate them. Mercola's probiotics are among the better brands I've tried. They are currently my probiotic of choice. When I need extremely high potency I go with VSL #3, which is unmatched in cell count per capsule. They are expensive, though, and I reserve those for the most extreme cases (serious flare ups). Mercola's 35 billion per capsule is a very high cell count, especially for the price. Some folks have complained about the price, but you have to look at the cell count. You do not find this high of a cell count for less than $30 anywhere. In fact, they are usually slightly higher than this. And often, they are only 30 capsules per bottle. This is 60. Considering the cell count and quantity of capsules, this is actually a pretty good deal, which is what caught my attention. Per 1-billion cells, this is a darn good price. I will say that by this metric, VSL #3 is probably the best deal, at 112 billion cells per capsule, with 60 capsules for bottle. Usually runs about $52 dollars. It's better deal by this metric, but paying $52 for a 2-month supply is more money out-of-pocket. For maintenance, this may be overkill. However, if you have Chron's disease for Ulcerative Colitis, then VSL may be your best option if you find Mercola's is not strong enough or you need to take too many capsules for it to be worth it. For most folks, however, Mercola's is potent enough (and more potent than most others at this price range). I give it 5 stars for effectiveness. It resolved my recent bout of colitis in a few days. I take 1 daily for maintenance, which turns in to $15/month. Not bad. I am currently on antibiotics for another issue and so am taking about 3 a day between doses. I highly recommend this product. Between this and VSL #3, they cover all of my needs. NOTE: I purchased mine locally, so I cannot speak for this particular distributor.

These are the real deal. This is my third or fourth bottle of Dr. Mercola's Complete Probiotics. When I saw I had the opportunity to get them at a discount for my honest and unbiased review, I jumped at the opportunity. I LOVE these probiotics. Here's why: IT HAS A PRE-BIOTIC IN IT Fructooligosaccharide (found in some fruits) serves as a "pre-biotic" in this supplement. According to Dr. Mercola, "Prebiotics help keep beneficial bacteria healthy.They basically are non-digestible foods that end up in your digestive system to help beneficial bacteria (probiotics) grow and flourish. The prebiotics that feed the "good" bacteria in your GI tract primarily come from carbohydrate fibers called oligosaccharides that you don't digest. They remain in your digestive system to help boost the growth of beneficial bacteria." IT IS BILE AND ACID RESISTANT This means the probiotic strands are able to survive the bile and acid in your digestive system. IT HAS OVER 70 BILLION CFU CFU, or colony forming units, is how we measure the strength of a probiotic. 70 billion CFU is pretty good; my one criticism is you have to take 2 pills instead of just one. IT HAS 10 STRANDS, INCLUDING DDS-1 Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1 Bifidobacterium lactis Lactobacillus plantarum Lactobacillus casei Lactobacillus rhamnosus Lactobacillus brevis Bifidobacteriuni longum Streptococcus thermophiles Lactobacillus salivarius Bifidobacterium bifidum IT REALLY HELPS I can best tell how much this probiotic helps on the days when I forget to take it. I feel like taking this each day sets me up for better success in my digestive system...and if my digestive system is working properly, then my day is definitely going to run smoother.

I have just started using these probiotics but they seem to be working very good. Infact the Complete Probiotics by Mercola are working as good as the Renew Life - Ultimate Flora Critical Care ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FK1TQ2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 ) but they cost much less, which is exactly what I was looking for. I will continue to take these and update my review as needed. I am also going to be trying Nexabiotic ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050FKPU0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=PGSUE0OBLM5X&coliid=I2VSC4CCGF9T30&psc=1 ) which have also received good reviews around the net. Remember, the more strains your probiotic has, the better they are likely to work good for you, and the Nexabiotics have 23 different probiotic strains, the most of any probiotic on the market, so I am looking forward to trying them too. As of this writing though I am very happy with how well the Complete Probiotics by Mercola are working. They work as good as my favorite probiotics (Renew Life - Ultimate Flora Critical Care) but they cost much less. UPDATE: Still taking these and they are still working great. Very good probiotics. I really like Dr Mercolas products. They do as they say and are gentle on the bowel and help to regulate the bacteria. We all need to take probiotics as amatter of health. A healthy gut means a healthy body.
