So inexpensive! Great quality. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pull on the metal clips WITHOUT removing them and just pop them on. When you pull on the clip ever so slightly you'll notice that they open up on the side that slides onto the little metal knobs that project from your car. You just pull on them ever so slightly and slip them on. One on each end of the strut. Super easy. Takes literally a minute to replace each one. There's a metal clip on BOTH ends of the strut for two points of attachment. Same with removing the old ones. Just make sure you have someone or something holding up the door when you do this. Your helper should be on a ladder to avoid arm strain. Those doors are heavy. Remember to also clean the metal knobs on your car with a paper towel. I lubricated mine with some WD40 for good measure but you probably don't need to as these struts or liftgates come pre-lubed. My dealership asked $300 in labor alone to do this....go figure.

I knew my struts were weak after nearly 10 years, but I didn't realize how weak until I installed these babies. It took longer to unpack and read the instructions than to install. No tools necessary to install, but you will need a large flat/straight blade screwdriver to remove the retention clips on your soon-to-be-discarded old structs. Also, for safety, have a something strong (a piece of metal conduit, a 2 x 2 or 2 x 4, etc.) to support the rear hatch as you replace the struts one by one. After replacement, the rear hatch gently springs open rather than having to be pulled open.

These are nicer than I expected. Fits our 2008 Volvo xc90 perfect. It lifts itself! Smooth and perfect! Love the trunk not hitting my head! These feel like they are made with quality.

Instructions were of very little value. There is a video online showing the remove and replace process. The process was perfect but I would advise cutting a piece of lumber or PVC Pipe to hold up the lift gate while you change the struts. One new strut alone will not hold up the gate and it's better to be safe than sorry.

After losing a clip and breaking the end off a different version from a different vendor, I was prepared for a battle to install these. They popped on perfectly with no issue. So Happy. (it was cold and windy when I had to do this) :)

These tailgate struts are very thick and sturdy. Took me longer to take them out of the box than to install them. I loosened the clip on the right top strut first and it allowed to be pry it off the stationary ball. Then the bottom pops off. I then popped in the new strut by hand, top and bottom and the first side was done. 5 minutes. Did the same to the other side and was back inside my house within 10 minutes. These struts were a welcomed replacement to the 14 year old struts I should have replaced 6 years ago.

Original replacements lost their power only after a couple of years. These started out great even in cold weather, we'll see how they perform over time.

Bought this product for my Volvo XC 90 as it was described. Was very easy to install but only lasted A few weeks. I cannot find way too ask for replacement ones, so I guess I just threw some money out the window. Would not buy it again
