Oblivion (A Lux Novel)

Oblivion!!!!!
I searched all my life for the perfect book boyfriend. The one who made my toes curl, and set my heart a flutter. A lot have come close, but there was that one that I couldn’t get out of my head. He was everything I dreamed of and more. Daemon Black fit that bill, and since I was introduced to him, there was none that could compare. I may sound crazy referring to him as my perfect man, but the truth is I’ve loved him from the moment. He opened that door shirtless, and acted like a jerk towards Katy, and now after reading Oblivion, I’m even more head over heals in love with him.The Lux series is perfect in my eyes, and I would have lived a happy existence, without Daemon’s pov, but now that I’ve had the opportunity to read his thoughts I have a new appreciation, and admiration for him. I’ve always known there was more to him then a pretty face. I adore him when he gets all cocky, but for the love of sweet baby aliens everywhere the man has a heart filled with love and compassion. Katy I love her and maybe I should hate her for snagging the man of my dreams, but she’s perfect for him, and the story. With the alternate pov it’s not an exact retelling; it’s impossible for each character to remain stuck together for the entire story. What we get is several scenes that we haven’t seen, my favorites are the ones with Dee, and also some other characters that he put in their place. I discovered his love for Katy started slowly, and evolved into this super galactic love. He protected Katy without any reservations, and she did the same. Each side of this story has captivated me for so many different reasons.Daemon Black has taught me everything I need to know about true love. You certainly don’t choose who you fall in love with, sometimes it chooses you, and takes you to places you never imagined. Some choices aren’t easy, and many are as simple as breathing. Life is full of surprises that turn your world upside down, and it’s all ok, because everyone has different paths to follow.“I’ve always found that the most beautiful people, beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly una ware of their effect. The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It’s just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.”This is clearly my favorite series ever. I’ve read these books more times than I can count. Oblivion is a special book. It should be cherished, and read with a carton of rocky road ice cream. It is a must-read for fans of the series, as well as newbies. Everything you would come to expect from the arrogant alien and then some. Jennifer L. Armentrout is my hero. I’m so happy that she gave us this pov. If I could I’d give her a gigantic hug. She gave us everything we could have hoped for from this series, and so much more.

Comfort series for sure!
This series is definitely my comfort read and I love everything about it. The characters are great, it's entertaining, and this will be a series that I will always go back to. Even after reading the entire Lux series, reading the Obsidian, Onyx, and Opal through Daemon's point of view in this book is so worth it!

An alternate POV that's just as good, if not better than the original! LOVED.
Jennifer L Armentrout’s Lux series is one of my favorite series. After five books, one novella, one spin-off, and multiple bonus scenes released, it might seem a bit much to release a full-length alternate POV novel (three if you bought the e-books). It’s not. This book might not have been necessary, but it’s far from superfluous. Oblivion was fun and familiar, but still fresh and very exciting. Daemon’s voice was humorous, surprisingly emotional, and simply irresistible. It was just as enthralling as Obsidian, and you might be surprised to know that if I had to choose between the two, I’d choose Oblivion.I’m assuming that if you’re reading this then you’ve already read the Lux series and don’t really need much convincing to read this book. If you’re on the fence, then get off it and go read this book. If you’re in the middle of the Lux series and considering reading this book before you complete it, so you’ll read them in the chronological order of events, then I recommend you wait. I believe knowing what happens next enhances this book. If you haven’t read this series at all and are questioning if you should begin with this or Obsidian…even though I said that I prefer this to Obsidian, you should read that one first. It might very well be the fact that I experienced Obsidian and went through everything that Katy went through that made Oblivion so enjoyable for me.Quick recap: Oblivion and Obsidian are about a girl and her hot, alien neighbor. Of course she doesn’t know that he’s an alien – she just knows him as the douche with the banging bod and gorgeous face, who can be an infuriating and unpredictable mixture of sweet and sour. Obsidian tells Katy’s perspective as she navigates her life as the new girl in a town where strange, inexplicable things keep happening. The blurb on the cover states that it’s a “cross between Roswell and Dawson’s Creek…” Well, they got the Roswell part right. The tension between Katy and Daemon is on par with Max and Liz’s, where every simple interaction, every close touch had me bursting out of my skin and internally screaming “KISS!” Sometimes externally too. The Dawson’s Creek reference…well, I don’t know what the hell that’s about because there isn’t a maudlin, self-absorbed, man-child who is a secondary character in his own story, so yeah, ignore that reference. (In case you couldn’t tell, I’m not a fan of Dawson Leery.) Anyway, this recap isn’t as quick as I wanted it to be, so just read the synopses to find out what these books are about.Where was I? Oblivion. Yes, Oblivion was fantastic! It’s that rare gem where the alternative POV actually gives the reader more as well as provides a fresh perspective of what we already know. In fact – and I’m not sure if it’s because it’s been over a year since I read this series, or it is just that this book is that amazing – this book felt new to me. There’s so much new material in it; it’s basically a standalone. I didn’t realize how little time Daemon and Kat actually spent together in Obsidian, so there was more introspection than dialogue, and it all felt like behind-the-scenes material. Also, Daemon’s voice was very strong to me, and unexpectedly poignant. Sure, there was plenty of his trademark snarkinees and a****** hotness, but it was his other side that had me distracted while I was doing real life stuff. He had a lot going on in his life, and so much responsibility on his shoulders – definitely more that he alone should’ve had to bear – and seeing what motivated him made me fall in love with him more. And trust me, I was in love with Daemon Black, so I didn’t think there was any further to fall.Oblivion doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it delivers more than you might expect. Whether you’re a die-hard Lux fan or a fair-weather newbie, I can’t recommend it enough. There seems to be a lot of male POV books out there, and who knows what an author’s motivation is when they write them, but even though JLA said that this one was for the fans, it wasn’t fan service. This is a great book, one of my favorites that she’s written, and I’ll definitely be reading this one over and over again. Read it and enjoy! Now, I’m going to sit here and wait for the audiobook to release…

I love it!
I have read the Lux series probably 6 times so far in my life. It’s one of my favorite series.I was nervous reading this book, but I honestly may like it a little better than the originals… I LOVE Daemons perspective and although it’s retelling the same story, it’s not the same… because you get a complete look into Daemons life instead of Kats. There’s so many things that are different that it does feel like you’re reading a new story.. but it’s the same story.. haha it’s honestly perfect!

I bought the regular novel first but then get the kindle edition just to see his pov on the other books as well. It is funny that Daemon describes her as smelling like peaches and Kat describes him as outdoorsy smell with spice haha. I also thought it was funny that Kats description changed. In the original story he asked her what colour her hair was as it was described not quite blond nor brown and she replied that it was light brown...however in is series, her hair is chocolate brown. There is also a typo of saying Adam was at the door after Adam was already dead...I think she meant Andres.
