The fan just fits between the AVR and the wall of the cabinet. I have it blowing air into the vent grill on the side of the AVR. The air exits out of top of the AVR grill. Perfect!! The air stream exits out the back of the cabinet. The AVR does run considerably cooler. When it`s dead quit in our TV/fun room you can barely tell the fan is running. I cannot hear it run when watching TV.-Perfect!! I have a remote controlled 120 volt outlet I use for the fan,so I can activate the fan from my RE-CLINER!!! It seems to be well built.with metal blades and housing. It also has rubber feet so the does`nt tranfer noise to the surface it sits on. I would recommend this fan to any one!Up Date-6/27/13: Rap 1/8in sticky back foam around the rubber feet. It makes the fan super quite! The fan still running great. I found this exact same fan(different brand) at Falapart for $6.98. I purchased one and it works great! ### ⭐ Didn't really work... *by L***K on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on May 21, 2013* I use small fans like this for cooling some machining equipment I use. Inevitably, after a few months or years of work, they give out - not a problem, given their cost and the workload I expect of them. I bought this one in advance, so that when one (inevitably) failed, I'd have a hot-swap replacement I could just put to use.Sadly, it sat on the shelf in box for about three weeks before the day came that I needed it. When I did, I plugged it in, turned it on, and heard a horrible groaning noise as if the fan blades were making contact with the outer cage. I looked for signs of impingement and couldn't find any. I couldn't visually see any blades hitting the cage either, so I can only assume that the horrible grinding was coming from inside the motor itself.Needless to say, I didn't feel safe using it, as I believe it to be a fire risk. I didn't bother to return it, as the hassle and shipping was worth more than the cost of the fan.My gut says that at least some of these things are going to work when you buy them, and for the cost, that's not a bad thing.
