My son was very engaged

The first was an adventure coming of age story and it is and I think it will always be a classic. This book takes a sharp turn in tone and even to a degree subject. It's a lot of the same characters, Heart's Blood is very much apart of the story but it is more than a year later almost 2 years. Jakkin has been changing and his focus has been even more focused on the dragons. He hasn't heard anything from Akki in months until he gets a message that she needs help. This book could almost and I emphasize almost be read separate from the first but don't. A great deal of this book has more to do with the planet's and society's history and the current society than Sarakkan's Farm or major interaction with Heart's Blood. So keep this in mind while reading it.

I like the writing and it's a good cohesive story with a well-thought out plot, but didn't realize until I was part way into it that it was the second of a series. It still read well as a story on it's own and I liked it enough to get the first book and the ones following Heart's Blood.

A 100% chance I'll be reading it again. A book I would love for my daughter to read. You should try it!!

I was so excited when the package came in the mail that I pretty much picked up the book almost immediately. I first read all the books when I was in like Jr. High. I have been trying to by these novels for YEARS. I did the fangirl squee when I got the package of the books. I'm that big of a nerd.

This book is a twist between adventure and romance, in the end, it is kind of sad, as the most beloved dragon dies, but I can't wait to find out what the next book will hold. Thank you.

I first read this book as a teenager and enjoyed it much better than I did as an adult. The best literature is that which remains interesting and absorbing as well as clever no matter how many times you read it or in which decade of life you read it. If you're a teenager or younger you might enjoy this as I did, but this is too simply written and not involving enough for a well-read adult to enjoy.I do remember how surprised I felt at the ending the first time I read this book. But even as a teenager I would not have recommended the third book in this series. The author had a brilliant idea for ending this book but then overused that brilliant idea as part of the plot in the third book. If you read the first book in this series, Dragon's Blood, you can stop there if you felt satisfied. But if you read on, I would suggest you stop after reading the second book. The plot just gets muggier and weirder. The first book remains the best of the series.

This is a book for teens that like fiction, adventures, and a little bit of romance. I found this book a great mystery that has a lot of twists! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have
