Review: Great System - This is my second one. The first one was installed nearly 5 years ago. When the flow valve on an upstairs toilet failed, there was no question about which one I would replace it with. We've been very satisfied. The flow valve used on the first installation has worked flawlessly. The flush valve has worked well, too. In these five years, it started to leak once. It took me less than a minute to clean and reseat. That's less maintenance than with a flapper. The flow valve itself is easy to install. You might have to make customizations for the tube that goes in the bottom of the tank. The tube works well to keep the tank clean, BTW. Just ensure you trim from the valve end, if it is necessary to shorten it. The dual flush button was a pain to get working correctly due to its proximity to the flow valve. The toilet is small, and it is a lot to pack it all in there. Adjustments here and there are necessary to make it work. Once you figure out which orientation works, the installation of the flush valve is easy. It's necessary to take time to calibrate the system to make it function properly. You might have to adjust the fill level to make it all work, but once everything works properly, it maintains the setup and works very well. The first one had the issue that the tank would fill, then at some random time, it would start again for a few seconds. It didn't seem to be leaking. Perhaps it doesn't have enough hysteresis built into the valve and the slightest vibration can set it off again. It would only do it once. For unknown reasons, it stopped doing it. It's well worth the price not to have to deal with flappers, and it saves money to boot. It's more robust than a flapper system, and I am more confident that it leaks less, if at all.
Review: I like the water saving feature, and the push button flush valve - I have nothing but good to say about this product. I didn’t think that installation was overly complicated and I am certainly not a plumber. I really like the water saving feature. It has two flush methods, the first one uses far less water. The whole thing just looks to be constructed better than the other toilet repair kits I have seen. Update: This is the 2nd one of these that I bought. The first one I bought was 3-4 years ago and I have had absolutely zero issues with it. It works as good now as it did on day 1. The 2nd one I bought was probably 10 months ago. It, too, worked flawlessly for those ten months, then I noticed that occasionally (maybe once every few hours) the toilet tank was refill for a little bit. Obviously it was leaking a little. I looked at the online owners manual and tried the troubleshooting steps, but was unable to solve the issue. It was still within the one year warranty so I called the company. I didn’t have to wait on hold very long and the representative I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. I explained to him what I had already tried and fortunately he didn’t insist that I repeat that. He quickly offered to send me a new unit and no cost, which he did. I installed the new unit and it is working perfectly now again. I don’t know why the 2nd one of these that I bought only lasted 8 months or so before developing problems. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that it was somehow my fault. All I do know is that I will MOST DEFINITELY buy another one if I need to buy another one. They work great and they stand behind their product. The idea of not wasting water unnecessarily is a good feature. Let’s face it — most of the time only the smaller amount of water is needed, and eventually that savings will pay for any additional cost of this unit.

## Features

- WATER-SAVING DUAL FLUSH TOILET REPAIR KIT: Converts a standard toilet into a dual flush toilet that saves water by reducing the amount of water used with each flush. The HYR451T combines two products that together will increase your toilet’s efficiency: HYR271 Dual Flush Converter and HC630 HydroClean fill valve
- COMPATIBILITY: The Dual Flush Converter works with standard 2 in. flush valves and requires a 10-inch minimum clearance from highest point of the flush valve opening to the inside of the tank lid. NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MANSFIELD TOILETS.
- FLUSH VALVE REPLACEMENT INSTALLATION TIP: Be sure to place the Dual Flush Converter directly in the center of your existing flush valve
- IMPORTANT INSTALLATION TIP: Do not remove overflow tube and flush valve from toilet tank; the Dual Flush Converter is a replacement to the existing flapper; slide the blue silicone dome gasket down the overflow tube, seating the gasket into the flush valve
- ELIMINATES TOILET LEAKS: Eliminates common leaky toilet problems due to a worn-out flapper, handle or faulty flapper chain; the permafit silicone seal is also chlorine and chemical resistant and will not warp
- DUAL-FLUSH LIGHT-TOUCH BUTTON UNIQUE SPLIT HANDLE DESIGN: The short center button is the Quick Flush setting that uses significantly lower water volumes for liquids and paper – this setting is needed 4 out of 5 times. The second complete push button at end is the Full Flush that uses the normal amount of water for solids
- DETECTS LEAKS & WATER ADJUSTMENT CALIBRATION: Detects leaks and signals when a leak is found. The Total Repair Kit also can be calibrated to adjust the exact amount of water needed which saves water.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My toilet has a 3in drain from the tank to the bowl. Will this product fit?**
A: Three inches sounds about right. If it is a standard toilet, with standard plumbing, it should work just fine. The interface with the tank drain pipe is conical, as can be seen in the photograph of the unit, to compensate for any slight variations there might be with the width of said drain pipe interface, as are conventional flappers.

**Q: After three years both of mine now leak and flush every 30 mins as the rubber washers used to hold the valve tight on the outlet have perished. Help?**
A: Go get new rubber washers; chemicals in the water supply can degrade the rubber over time. Or you can use a metal hose clamp. However, if your blue dome seal has gone bad -- as mine has -- good luck finding a replacement part. Seems Danco wants you to replace the whole system when that seal goes bad. :-(

**Q: Anyone found a replacement seal for the unit? Mine is 10 months old and leaks terribly.**
A: If the blue seal on the bottom of the unit is leaking, try this: GENTLY push down on the unit. If the unit slpped up the fill tube, this should stop the leak. Using the zip tie they gave us to attach the unit was not the brightest but was the cheapest way. Being a car guy, I used a stainless steel car heater hose clamp around the rubber ring on the overflow pipe and now nothing can move the unit. I found a mini clamp that is half the width of the usual clamp, and is easier to install.

**Q: Does this prohibit the use of bleach tablets in the tank? Does anyone use them with this?**
A: The manual says that NO tablets, bleach or others should be used in the tank. Bleach and deodorizing units can be attached to the bowl without concern.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had to replace all the inside parts...
*by W***Y on November 20, 2014*

11/21/14 Updated to 4 stars: Okay so now it works fine. I ended up having to replacing the flush valve to obtain a proper seal after the flush. Apparently I had a better seal with the old flapper and flush valve but it still ran so it needed to be changed, which is what started this conversion. Now I just need to figure out how to adjust it properly. The partial flush doesn't flush a square of paper at this point but the full flush works fine. Eventually I hope to have it adjusted properly. End result after all is pretty good. I guess I will have to see how it holds up over time. Happy with it now! Right now I am not happy!!! I have installed and re-installed 3 times. I read the instructions a few times before installing and watched several videos. I have installed many of the typical setups in toilets before. The installation was easy, no problem each time I tried it was quicker and everything seemed to be great each time until I let the water into the tank. The tank fills properly, but once full the water continually drains from the tank causing the refill to go on every few seconds no matter how many times i take it apart and re-seat it. I guess i am just totally frustrated at this point and wanting to put all the old parts back on. I only changed them thinking I would save water. After all, we are in a drought here in California so anyway to save water waste is good in my book. So my next move I guess is to go to the hardware store and try to find all the rest of the internal parts to replace. I guess i need to get a new overflow tube and flush valve assembly and then try to re-install again with a completely empty tank and all new parts. I'm also thinking since this is a kit the flush valve and overflow tube should be part of it or the first instruction should be: Go buy all new parts first so you won't become frustrated after trying to install. My opinion only! Am I the only one with this issue? If anyone has any hints I am open to them. I don't feel i am installing incorrectly but then again I'm not a plummer and just following instructions. When I try again, if it works I will come back and update. I was really hoping this would have been a 15 minute to 1 hour job and not a few days. :(
