Awkward to take on and off
Based on my limited usage so far, they do the job in terms of keeping me dry. But they are awkward to take on and off while wearing shoes. This applies even when the ankle poppers are undone.I got these to carry with me when cycling. The idea being to stop and put them on if it starts to rain. In this situation, taking my shoes off is not a practical option.

Good for really wet one or two-off job.
Portwest are one of the few suppliers that can do really large sizes, although i'd still order one size bigger than you are. The elastic waist takes up the slack and the larger size makes them easier to get on & off. I use mine for high pressure washing a boat hull and stay dry.

Just what it says on the tin.
I love Portwest gear. Just like everything they supply, these rain trousers are perfect. Price is competitive, quality is better than the cheaper ones and they go nicely with the Portwest bomber jacket I got for my other half. He wears them during the dark evenings when cycling home. You wouldn't miss seeing him.

truly rain proof, good quality (NOT breathable)
truly rain proof, good quality. consequently, it is not breathable - it really is completely waterproof. so for light rain + hot weather, it's probably not the thing tpo go for. but if heat is not a worry, then these should work a treat. Note: I thought they had pockets, but instead they have pocket holes, so that you can reach the pockets of the clothes you have inside - which makes sense for a cover piece - and I find that brilliant as I do not need to move things to an outer pocket so I can reach them (also the things in the pocket will not get wet) :)
