Has anyone encountered the black lining of the rods leaving a mark on the clothes that are hanging?

Mine rods are gray, not black. I've not had any marks left by them on my clothes.

Is there any color transfer from the black rubber to the clothes?

No not at all. The rubber coating helps reduce a winkle line on the pants too.

Does this come assembled?

It is totally assembled. Just unfold and put on pants as illustrated. I bought some of these years ago, and they were heavier, but these are substantial enough.
