How easy is it to build the model fully and install the light kit afterward?

You cannot build this model and add the light kit afterwords. The lighting must be installed at the time of construction. The lighting kit includes some alternate parts for the model that take the place of the original parts in the kit.

Where can I bought the kit of lights and decals?. Thanks

Several sellers including Tidewater Traders carry both the lighting kit and the aztec decals on Amazon: Lighting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087KD4G4Z Decals: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0892BBNN1

Where are the batteries kept? In the hull or in the base?

This is a plastic model kit - no batteries

which light set do I buy??

The light set for this model is part number MKA041
