This is a great hat for two reasons: it is bendable, so it is excellent on the road (packing, airplanes and so on). Obviously, you can’t fold it as a pair of socks in the travel case, but you don’t have to worry about it being squeezed in an overhead bin. The other reason, it is very breathable - it allows a great deal of air to circulate under the hat, which is what you want, especially in a hot climate or intense sun rays. These two features are exactly what I’m looking to replace my aging hat.Also, it has quite a wide rim, which is excellent for protection of your whole head and neck. It isn’t too big, so you can wear the hat in normal circumstances (not just on a beach).And it is quite stylish, especially for a bendable hat (the rim’s shape won’t be consistent unless you simply don’t travel with it).The only thing you need to keep in mind is that this hat is for a very large head. Not for small, not for medium, not even for regular large heads. The hat comes in two sizes, but both are too big for my head (regular large size - 23 1/2). Even the smaller of the two (m/l) was sitting with its tip right on the top of my head. The manufacturer added an adjustable sweatband that has a string to tighten the circumference, but I don’t think it could be comfortable in the long run. Plus, I prefer to simply slip my hat on rather than deal with “shoelaces.”

I got this woven cowboy style Wallaroo as a backup to my favorite Panama hat. But now I end up wearing the Wallaroo more, as it’s slightly more versatile. For example, I can wear my Panama for a stroll up the beach and to visit shops. But I don’t want to wear it fishing. With this Wallaroo I can do both. It’s a handsome style, and the woven material lets the breeze through and isn’t as prone to blowing off my head like the tight woven Panama. It’s just super comfortable in most situations, and looks good without being too casual or sloppy.

I was hesitant to buy this hat. I wanted a straw hat that I could haul flat in a suitcase. Straw does not lend itself to crushing and uncrushing. They crush just fine. They don't uncrush very well.I have had felt hats, in the past, that were "crushable". Yet I was skeptical that such a thing existed in a straw hat. I knew the term "crushable". This hat was listed as "packable". That was what made me hesitant. But hey, it's Amazon. If it wasn't what they said it was, there is usually recourse available.I received the hat today. I purchased the lighter colored one in L-XL.It's winter here right now. . It's hard to know how cool it will be in the summer heat. It is not made out of actual straw. It is made of some high quality stiff-ish woven thread material.Holding the hat up to a light, I can see through it like a high quality straw hat. It is a surprisingly good looking hat. It fits me perfectly. I have a big head. I normally wear 7-5/8. You could probably go a tiny bit larger and you should definitely be able to go smaller. There is a drawstring in the inner hat band so you can draw the hat in smaller. It fits me perfect with using the string.Most of all, it is very nicely "crushable" using their "soft-taco fold". You just push it in from both sides and it "crushes" quite flat.I am excited about this hat. So far I love everything I see, and feel, with this hat.I would definitely buy it again if need be.

I packed this hat in my suitcase and took it on our honeymoon. The hat not only survived, structurally sound, but man does that hat look good on me. I love it! Great protection from the sun, too.

Great hat! Purchased the large/extra large and it fits my 24" head perfectly. Light weight and comfortable. I'm going to order a second to have one for nice and one for yard work.

This is my third Outback hat from Wallaroo and this is the first one online. The only thing a I find different is the rim seems to be very flimsy and goes up and down with a little breeze or on a slow bike ride or on a golf cart other then that it looks great.

Outstanding!This hat ticks all the boxes, shades the face from the sun while not making the head hot. I have always used Tilley hats great at protecting the face but even the light and air flow ones make the head sweat.So this hats really is excellent. The adjustable nature works well and it looks really good!

Der Hut ist ganz in Ordnung, die Materialbeschreibung stimmt aber leider nicht! Laut Produktionformation/Materialbeschreibung besteht der Hut aus "100% Elasthan" bzw. sei das Aussenmaterial "synthetisch". Ausweislich dem eingenähten Hinweis und dem angehefteten Info-Zettelchen der Fa. Wallaroo HatCompany handelt es sich bei dem Material um "Paper Braid" also Papiergeflecht! Daher auch nur 3 Sterne!!!

Received the hat in 3 days. Came packed in a box without any damage.Out of the box it looked well made and true to the colour I imagined.The hat fit well as it has an adjustable strap. I could shape it into myfavourite style. I will be wearing this hat on the golf course with pride.Now I can look like a cool dude! Great value and good shipper.I had looked at many hats before deciding on the Wallaroo Brand.
