How can this not be electrically conductive but have water in it as another answer that was given, the 2 contradict each other?

Can this be used as cpu thermal paste? if not, why not?
I need a thermal paste to connect a thermostat cutoff switch to the outside of an oil heating (500 deg F) popcorn kettle. Will this work?

Worth it.

It is easy to apply and it goes a long way, I use it to install any nozzle on my machines. It also easily cleans up with water and is inert so getting it on your hands is perfectly safe. It really does improve heat transfer just like thermal paste on a cpu is needed for the heatsink to work, but heatsink thermal grease cannot handle the higher Temps in a 3d printer nozzle. I have noticed a bump in extrusion rate on every machine I have used this on.

If you upgrade a hotend use this.

Works as specified. Many of the heater cartridges are a loose fit and if they do not contact metal to metal well. There will be inconsistent heating of the block with just a set screw and potential thermal runaway issues. This compound has a high heat transfer. No more struggle to 300c+. Smooth consistent heating and stable temp holds. It's water-based instead of grease, so it cleans easy. Slice Engineering kept the price reasonable for a home hobby 3d printing compared to computer focused compounds. Product is a grand slam home run.

Let it dry!!! It's a great paste for thermal transfer but you need to let it dry out before use!

*** Slice Engineering states (on their website) that the paste needs to dry out. You can either, let it sit overnight or run the hotend at 90c for 10 minutes. This is because the paste contains water: to aid in squeezing it out of the syringe and spreading it effectively. If you don't let the water evaporate/dry from the paste, you can experience the ~bubbling that others complain about: this is the water boiling away at high temps and pushing the paste out of place. *****Be cautious: the paste can push out of the tube with excess (upon first use, after it has sat for a long period). I would suggest trying to pull the syringe back a bit: before pushing forward. **Overall the performance of this Boron Nitride paste is exceptional compared to other general use thermal pastes, for 3D printing.I've got a P1S, running a V2 Aftermarket hotend w/ .4 CHT Bondtech Nozzle: getting ~30mm^3/sec.This paste really helps when you need to dissipate heat between the "cold-end"/Thermal tube: of the hot-end assembly, and the heat-sink; I also put a small amount on the threads of the nozzle. { Use caution to try to not let much of the paste get into the filament path. I didn't run into issues, even having done so. You can always use water to clean off excess paste: Iso worked well for me too. }I did run into temporary issues: getting thermal malfunction errors, because I didn't realize the paste needs to dry. ( It's also likely I didn't apply enough paste into the thermister hole nor push the bulb into the hole far enough: to get good/consistent readings.)Once you are aware of these several, obscure aspects of how to use the paste: properly, things work out great.Well worth the money, for what you get. I would recommend it for anyone seeking to improve their 3D printing experience.

I've been missing out for a long time!

I ordered this for an all metal upgrade on a cheap bed slinger, but going to use this on every printer I've got going forward!Inititially, I bought this due to stringing after replacing the heatbreak with PTFE tubing down to the nozzle.I was a bit skeptical, but after filling the heater block (heater cartridge, thermistor, nozzle), as well as the heatsink chamber on the cold side my printer heats up faster and maintains temperature much better! The stringing is gone now, although I did have to make some adjustments - no fault of this paste though. This stuff truly works miracles. My only complaint is the tube it comes in, I tried to push as lightly as possible, but each time it builds up pressure until it shoots all over. Be careful if you haven't used it before, I used up 1cc on a single printer, but there was enough waste for probably 5 more!If you own a 3D printer, you need this!

Works perfectly!!!

the paste is far more effective for hotends than other types of thermal paste. place a finger on the end when plunging the paste as it has a tendency to explode out forcefully. the applicator could thus use some tweaking but the paste itself is elite.

A must for 3D printers, but...

... be very careful while dispensing! This is way thinner than any of the normal thermal pastes you have worked with for PCs and the like. It will make a huge mess if you aren't cautious. Also be prepared to cleanup some excess around the nozzle while heating it up the first time, as it gets a little thinner when heated and fills in the nooks and crannies. So some will inevitably push out of the heater block and down the nozzle the first time you preheat.

Great stuff

3rd or 4th time I’ve used this stuff; had to grab another syringe. Works absolutely wonderful. Only complaint I really have about it is that the very front of the tube is usually dry and when it breaks out there’s a small mess involved but that could just be me trying to go to fast. Thermal transfer is wonderful and I noticed it even helped out PID tuning a bit. Using it on all of my printers for the nozzles, heater cartridges, thermistors; anything that sees heat really. 10/10

easy to apply, great performance

overall works great! and easy to apply! enough leftover to use for 2 or 3 more applications. easy to clean up too since its water soluble
