Great buy for the money
The magnet on a flat pull is very strong, don't listen to the people who say they are weak while trying to pick up the hook or eyelets it comes with. The hook is not ferrous, and the metal the eyelets are made from is barely ferrous. Magnets cannot pick up every type of metal out there. I hooked it to my coffee table leg, and it sticks to that very well, stuck it to my front door for a straight pull from the center of the magnet and heard my door frame creak before it let go. This isn't going to pull out street signs and such like some of the guys do on videos online, but it is a great beginner kit, and that's what I was looking for. The hook is made out of some sort of light metal, not sure if it is an aluminum alloy, or what it is. It might be stronger than I think, but I feel like if you got anything of serious weight on it, it would probably bend or the ring welded on the end might come off, but I could be wrong. I would bet it will handle anything the magnet will though. The rope is typical paracord you can get anywhere but feels sturdy enough. The gloves are like a light gardening glove with rubberized palm and fingers. The gloves won't save you from sharp objects, but will help, and will help pulling anything rusty, just watch for sharp edges. The case feels very sturdy, it has a channel for a rubber seal, but mine didn't come with one, not sure if it was supposed to or not. The "collapsible bucket" is essentially just a canvas bag, it will handle anything smaller and of any value you want to bring home, but I would get a plastic bucket for the junk items you pull to get rid of. Good buy for the money, I bought magnetic coat hooks for the sides of my tool box that cost more than this set, and have similar strength magnets in them, maybe a little weaker. Great beginner set, and a good way to get outside doing something off the couch and away from electronics, plus you can clean up some of the junk in your water ways in your area while having fun at it!

Like this magnet because it is very strong and lift can be changed to side or face.
Very strong magnet. Used to pick up nails out of burned down building. Will use for magnet fishing also.

Stronger than I thought
Took it out the first time a few days ago with my daughter. I had tried it out around the house and thought the magnet felt pretty weak. But then went to a bridge and got it accidentally attached to the metal railing of the bridge-I couldn’t even get it to move a tiny bit! Magnets are a lot stronger than I first thought! I ended up finding a big chunk of asphalt and used that to hit it and scoot it to the edge of the metal where I could finally remove it. We caught a pair of pliers, a fishhook, and a knife. Not bad for our first time ever trying it! Made some memories with the kiddo-worth the price.

$4o Kit UPGRADED for cheap!
Loved the dual sided magnet and I prefer this over most other shapes of magnets. Grappling hook is a good addition, even though it's terribly welded and a little scary in that regard. Currently I'm using it as a window deciration in my nautical themed windowsill. I upgraded this 1000lb (500lb/side) kit with a few items from the hardware store and here on Amazon. You need Locktite thread glue ($5) or another type of thread locker glue to fasten the bolt to the magnet. Used two old Rubbermaid food storage containers to store the whole kit with a little modification. Magnet had bolt attached with Locktite, waited 24 hours to completely harden, then cut the foam to fit the bolt...then slid it into the container. Bottom of the shipping foam from the magnet was cut as well to shorten it to better shut the lid (see closeup magnet pic). Gloves and Locktite with the supplied extra bolt sit in there nicely as well. The 65' rope that came with the kit (blue rope in my pics) came with one not great carabiner, but it does the trick. I bought an 8 pack of the screw lock carabiners here on Amazon for $11 and put a few in that Rubbermaid, then tied one to the other end of the rope for extra security. Lastly, for $10 my local Ace Hardware had this yellow 100' rope with a 750lb capacity. Used a 36" rubber strap to secure it all, and doubles as a little carrying handle. Other than a little heat shrink to better secure my knots, this kit is good to go for this somewhat beginner! Definitely a good magnet to do your own upgrades to as well that comes with a good bit of kit to start out. Lastly, the gloves fit but are slightly tight. However, I'm a 6'1" guy with large hands. It's to be expected. I have different gloves I'll use when these break.

Weak magnet
Caught some little items and screws at the river. Otherwise it is not strong enough to catch anything fun. Anything too heavy it will just get stuck because the cord is not durable and the surface area of the magnet is too small. Easily gets stuck between rocks.
