I have a three-year old toddler and I wanted a messenger bag that I could wear across my body to keep my hands free. The bag also needed to be a neutral color or my husband wouldn't carry it. It's ok. I would give it 2 1/2 stars if I could.The bag is too soft and unstructured. You cannot know how soft and floppy and unstructured this bag is until you receive it. When you put things in the bag, the bag fills up like you're making a water balloon - round. The bag does not fill up while keeping a rectangular shape of a messenger bag; the bag gets rounder and rounder and bulkier as more things are added. No, I'm not stuffing the bag with more than it can hold comfortably. This round shape, and the lack of a shoulder pad, is a big reason this is the most uncomfortable messenger bag I've used.The overall lack of structure to this bag also makes accessing all corners of the pockets (both interior and exterior) difficult. I had put my wallet in one of the interior pockets and reached inside with one hand when it was my turn to pay for my items at the grocery store. One hand was holding my full-of-engery toddler's hand and I was using the other to reach into the messenger bag for my wallet. Could not find it. I started to panic. I KNEW I put my wallet in there! I started feeling around a little more frantically with the one hand. No wallet. I finally had to let go of my toddler's hand (she immediately ran towards the display she wanted to see) and started to look for my wallet. With one eye on my toddler and one eye in the bag, I finally found my wallet. It's really hard to explain, but my wallet had settled into one of the corners of the pocket and the bag had sort of folded in the area above the wallet. When I was feeling around the pocket the fold felt like the bottom of the pocket.
