Great value
Took a little while to set up but not too tricky. I'd advise working through set up at least once before committing to fixing it to a work bench. Seems to work well, early days but I'm happy. Excellent value.

Powerful, good value and great size
Great value for money and an excellent edition to my tool kit. I bought it for cutting the wood to make model boats and for this, it's excellent. It's not as big as you might expect but a perfect size for hobbiests. Very quiet considering what it is but quite powerful. I'm very pleased with my purchase and can definitely recommend this bandsaw.

Truly awful
I'm rewriting this review after approximately 3yrs worth of use. It's little wonder this thing is still working after 3 years. Just goes to show how little its been used. If I need to cut anything straight or longer than 50mm I won't even attempt it on this. I doubt you can buy Chinese stuff as bad as this, it most definitely does not reflect the reputation Germany is famed for.The flex in the bed is so bad you amy as well cut in mid air, and attempting to use either the fence or guide is dangerous at best. The flex in the wheels means the blade struggles to run true, and is impossible to straighten out. When one is finally presented with a short freehand cut you can perform on this, power is somewhat lacking and the blade immediately moves around in the exposed section, meaning you need to adjust constantly, even when you think you're set.The access to the blade is so safe, because of the poor quality locks, means even when you have closed the case back up, it takes a certain amount of switch wedging to get the machine to run again.I would give this a lower rating for desecration the name of German engineering but unfortunately negative figures aren't possible. Every time I decide to give it another chance it leaves me even more disappointed.Anyone wanting to make anything even vaguely like what you hoped for are best off avoiding this at all costs. If however you're looking for your results to be more varied, or for a machine to stack things on, well being so floppy it doesn't even do this well.

Great value for money
Great value for money product. Surprised how effective this tool is for my hobby projects. Instructions to build it weren’t great but it’s fairly intuitive.

Rubbish customer service - they sell it and don't want to know about spares.
I have the earlier HBS250 with the 420W motor. Used it almost daily for the past 8 years and found it quite good except the paint is flaking off and the lower door hinges have rusted that took me a good day to sort out. However, bad paint finish is one thing - looks awful. Setting up is easy enough but there are no real guides as to blade tension and alignment. Can excuse the rusting as we had a leak in the workshop and after a new roof the air was rather damp when we drying the damage and a lot of equipment was affected but the bandsaw was really what one would call scrap. We didn't scrap it just dried it out, lubricated things and reassembled but one BIG problem that Scheppach has is they don't respond to questions regarding spares and apparently couldn't care less about spares - talk about German Engineering? These are made in China and are exactly the same as other bandsaws. The lower door closure lock was rusted - Scheppach won't supply a spare so got something on Amazon that just does the job and now the lower guide bearing carrier has a stripped bolt or bearing carrier and again I have tried many stockists and all come back with -contact scheppach - a feat that is almost impossible.I did get an email asking for the serial number - that was about 5 weeks ago. Sent what they wanted but have heard NOTHING.Total crap customer service. I have now bought another Scheppach 550W HBS 261 because it uses the same blades and was £200.
