Great pencils!
Very great example of American manufacturing. The pencils make a great impression that is not too faint and write very smoothly. There is something very nice about being able to pick up one of these pencils and quickly jotting down one's thoughts or even adding to a grocery list- no mechanics, no clicking or running out of ink ! Nice basic retro writing instrument !

Not the $11 version of the Musgrave pencil
This is a quality USA made Musgrave No 2 pencil. However this is not the "Professional" version of this pencil. A dozen of those does sell for over $11 and the wood is yellow cedar. The 12 pack I got is the standard version that comes in a bag not a box, is not made of cedar, and sells for around $8 a dozen. The quality is good but the $11 is high for this standard version. The metal that holds the eraser is cheaper too. But the eraser looks the same to me on both versions. I did not know that there are two versions of the Musgrave pencil and thought initially that I had gotten fake pencils made some where other than in the USA.

Best pencils out there
Other pencils, including what I thought were my favorites (Ticonderoga, from my school years) have leads that break frequently, sometimes before you can use them, and you have to sharpen and sharpen and sharpen until there is nothing is left but nubs. Those are made in China pencils.Musgrave pencils do not have that problem. A most excellent pencil, which was what I was looking for.

You get what you paid for quality.
Some of the best quality pencils. The pencils sharpen better then the Dixon Ticonderoga and write better in my opinion.
