You will need polyurethane resin and fine metal powder. Here we use KastEZ Resin from ArtMolds. The mix ratio is 1/3 of Part A resin, 1/3 of Part B resin, and 1/3 of metal powder. Add about 1/2 of the metal powder to each resin part and mix well. Then combine both resin parts together and mix well again. Then pour or brush into your mold. Pouring out KastEZ Resin. "Cold-Casting" is a term used to describe the process of mixing metal powder with a resin to create castings that give the appearance of solid metal. The metal cold-cast process (also known as "bonded metal is faster and much less expensive than foundry casting of molten metal (lost wax process.) Different metal powders such as bronze, brass, iron, copper, stainless steel, and stone powders can be used depending on the desired effect. This preference has to do with its softness, which makes it easier to carve. Our marble powder is actual milled "white marble" from the quarry. However, the ratio of marble powder to a bonding agent such as KastEZ Resin determines the hardness of the finished cold cast product. Resin of course is softer than stone or marble, it being a plastic. Thus, the higher the ratio of resin to marble powder the softer the surface (it still is harder than plastic though). So if you are looking for a harder surface use less of the bonding agent and more of the powder. Think of your bonded marble surfaces you have in your house such as a sink top. That top was made with marble powder and resin. That is the hard surface you will achieve with 2 parts resin and one part marble powder.
