Cut that cable with this awesome HD alternative!
The media could not be loaded. In my quest to save a little money, I thought why not drop my cable? Or at least reduce my cable bill by getting rid of channels I can get for free over the air. Ok, now that I had a plan and a goal to achieve, I set out on a quest to find an HD antenna that would suit my needs. The quest was not that long or epic, thankfully it was pretty easy. I did a few quick searches and found 1byone, a company that makes many different HD antenna solutions. I felt I was sure to find the device I needed from them, and I was right. I purchased the 1byone Shiny Antenna super thin version from Amazon. After reading the reviews and looking over the features, I was very impressed and excited to get it home and set it up.The setup process was pretty easy and straightforward. You plug the antenna into the tv's antenna input, go to "my setting" and scan for channels. The first time I did this I was a little disappointed, I had only got 28 channels. After carefully reading the instructions and putting my tech mind to work I thought hmm I should have placed the antenna in a window facing the great outdoors, walls and other objects can block signal so let's bypass this stuff. I did another scan and got 58 channels. Wow I did not know there was so many local HD and non HD channels free over the air.To my surprise, I did not have to use the supplied amplifier and the window I placed it near was less than 20 feet from my main tv. I get mostly all the channels I could want for my needs. Here in my area, I am lucky enough to be within 50 miles of Philly where the broadcast tower is located. You can find out how close your local broadcast tower is by doing a quick google search. I am extremely satisfied and blown away how good this antenna works and the HD quality you get from your local broadcast.I definitely recommend the 1byone Shinny HD Antenna, however before you cancel or cut your cable subscription, purchase this product and test it out. Its very inexpensive for what entertainment it can provide. I know some people who connected the antenna to their child's tv for local kids shows, this was a good idea it eliminates the need to rent another cable box. Also, your performance will vary depending on a number of factors: what's available in your area, your desired entertainment needs as well as objects that may be blocking the HD signal. For the money, this is a great device to test out your HD local broadcast and ultimately save you some money.

Worth the money
So far it works great! We live in the country and don't have the best reception! We aren't home long enough to justify paying for a dish subscription so we just use traditional antenna! This one has stopped the fuzzing out that our old antenna did and the picture is clear even with wind & rain!

Easy to Use/Good Performer
We live in an apartment that does not allow us to position our antenna in the most ideal location. With that said, the 1byone does a pretty good job of getting us TV signals.Setting up the antenna is quite easy and self explanatory. Same goes for attaching the included amplifier. The ease of use is one of the reasons I enjoy the product. Placement of the antenna is a bit more difficult, as it takes a great deal of trial and error. After trying many, many placements, we discovered that the antenna actually works best when it is mounted inside the apartment. That being said, I recommend listening to all the reviews that talk about placing the antenna high. We placed ours on the wall a little over 3/4 of the way up the wall and found the reception to be best here.As far as aesthetics, the antenna satisfies. We were initially skeptical about placing it inside on the wall, but the shiny white color does not provide much of an imposing spectacle on the wall. The cord is very long, allowing a great deal of flexibility in placement. The down side of the longer cord, of course, is hiding it. Currently we have the cord running along the floor boards, but I think it could be easily hidden along the ceiling edge if we took a little more time and effort to take care of it.For performance, we have been generally satisfied. We currently use the amplifier to find stations and have found that we get generally good reception the majority of the time. Some of the breaks in signal can get quite frustrating, especially for live events. As I stated earlier, however, we do not have the ideal apartment location available to us, so this is not entirely the fault of the antenna. We tried the antenna without amplification aswell, but did not see any real benefit to disconnecting the amp.Overall, this is a great antenna at this price point. If you are searching for a sort of swiss army knife antenna that can provide unamplified and amplified options, the combination of value and performance is definitely very good in this option.
