Springfield Big and Bold Thermometer with Mounting Bracket, Indoor Outdoor Thermometer, Easy to Read Numbers for Patio, Pool, and Indoor Areas, 5.25-Inch, White

This is a cheap, flimsy product made in China but I knew and expected that when I bought it. The pros are that it is very easy to read outside our kitchen window with good contrast between the white background and the red pointer. I like the fact that the Centigrade numbers are very small. Who cares about Centigrade in America anyway? If you are from a foreign country just learn to use Fahrenheit! It was simple to install with a screwdriver but the screws are tiny. I have tested this unit against very accurate scientific thermometers and sometimes it is dead on and other times it is off by a few degrees. It seems to read more accurately above 40-50 degrees. I would give it an absolute error range of +/- 2 degrees but for the price it is worth the money. I only have had it for a couple weeks but I am keeping it knowing that it might not be super accurate. I intend to continue checking the accuracy when it gets below zero in the next few days. It is adjustable, so after more experimentation, I will adjust it accordingly. It is hassle free and has no batteries which is a plus. When we have strong winds, I will be interested to see how it holds up. If it was more expensive I would not buy it.

Buyer beware. This looks like a nice little product. I purchased it and put it on our front porch. It was not in direct sun but on the back of a pillar on the porch. It worked great for 2 weeks. The temperature seemed fairly close to the outside temperature reported by weather.com for our area. After 2 weeks, it got stuck on 65 degrees. It could be 92 outside and it still read 65. Alas, it is now junk. You will see that there are lots of bad reviews. I believe they are probably warranted. The reason I purchased this anyway is I have reviewed almost all of the similar products on Amazon and they all have mediocre ratings. (I need one of the small sizes) I guess I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones with one that would last a few years but just be aware, these do seem to have a high failure rate and if you are outside the 30 day return window, you may get stuck with the defective item. A similar one that I was replacing with this one worked for several years but the case had faded from white to dirt color and I wanted a nice new white one again. On the other hand, if you go into it with your eyes wide open knowing that you have at least a chance of getting one that works, go for it. I think I'm going to pass on getting another one and hope someday one comes out with several months of experience and decent ratings.

When I took this out of the box, the red needle was already dislodged inside the thermometer and tumbling around loose. But it's very easy to read the temp as the numbers are pretty large. You can see it in the photo I posted of it on the patio wall. I'm not sure if it's actually waterproof since I have it under a covered patio, but it seems like it would be. So to fix it, first I saw two little recessed spots on opposite sides of the thermometer (at 9 and 3 o'clock) so I used a butter knife to pop the 2 tabs. This allowed me to remove the faceplate and put the needle back on the center pin (make sure the middle part of the bottom/underside of the needle is resting between the two metal pins!). I popped the faceplate back in and took it outside. The next day I noticed it was reading about 5-10⁰ off, so I used the butter knife again to calibrate the needle (by twisting the screw on the back of the thermometer until the temperature was accurate. It's worked perfect since then! The whole process only took about 5 mins total, but I also learned how to fix/calibrate it in the future should anything happen to it. Also, do NOT use the nails provided, they are as weak as plastic and got stripped easily. Despite me having to fix this, I'm still rating it 4 stars because it was pretty cheap and it's worked flawlessly since.

Ok thermometer but quality ain’t as good as the same one I bot 30 years ago

Easy to read and accurate too!

I bought this to replace one I lost when my house was being painted. I'd had that outside of my kitchen window for 10+ years and it was always extremely accurate. I turned and angled it downward so that I could easily see the numbers. When I couldn't find that one, I bought a new one not realizing that it could only be connect flatly against a wall! Well, that didn't work so I searched and found this one. I'm a happy camper again! As fate would have it, I found my original one! I put that one outside my kitchen window we're ahead live for 10+ years. It's home now! I put this new one onto my shed outside. I can see the numbers from my bedroom window. I like that it stands away from the wall because it gets air flow for a more accurate reading. I put my flat one on my bedroom wall! I had taken several thermometers and placed them outside, including my probe meat thermometer, so that I could sync them up to be accurate. This thermometer is inexpensive and accurate. I will buy it again if I have another location for one.

Excellent outdoor thermometer. Very clear arrow and dial. Biggest plus is an adjusting screw on the back which allows you to calibrate it - very rare for a basic thermometer. Plastic a bit flimsy so it will be interesting to see how it ages.

this is perfect for outside and being able to see from the inside. Easy to install and is very accurate

This is a great product for the price. I needed it to replace a broken part of an old weatherstation. Looks good and is fairly accurate.

Aún no lo he instalado y el paquete llegó según lo anunciado...Al abrir el paquete, me sorprende que la flecha (roja) indicadora no está sujeta a la espiral, está totalmente suelta... le realicé algunos ajustes y la coloqué donde debe de ir... otro detalle es que en latinoamérica predomina el sistema de Grados Celsius y no de Grados Farenheit... el producto si me proporciona los grados celsius, pero en tamaño pequeño... sugerencia para la compañía fabricante es ponerlos a la inversa para los lugares que utilizamos este sistema... si hubiese encontrado un producto similar pero con información en grados celsius, preferiría haberlo comprado...
