I put the patch on before I got on the ship, it stayed on 3 days and I never felt sick. The end of the third day we hit rough seas and the boat started rocking I noticed a blip in my stomach so I immediately replaced the patch and was just fine. I think this is more of a placebo effect. I do not think it really does anything physiologically to prevent sea sickness. But if it makes you feel better to have 'protection' on, then go ahead and use them. The price is low enough that it is worth bringing during travel. During cruises you see a ton of people wearing these.
