Necco Wafers, The Original Candy Wafers Display Pack - Assorted Flavor Tray, Retro Sweets for the Holidays, Vintage Candy in Bulk Box - 2-Ounce Rolls (Pack of 24)

This candy was first manufacturerd in 1847. The nation was in turmoil at that time, and was less than 15 years away from being torn asunder by the Civil War. I find it amazing that in 1847 someone said to himself, "what this nation needs is something to make it's dental health even worse". My father often bought Necco Wafers for me when I was a child, yet now, at the age of 70, I still have all my teeth. Until I was 30 I thought they were "nickel wafers". I loved them as a small child and I love them now, as a 70 year old diabetic. Due to the large amount of insulin and other diabetic meds I use I sometimes suffer from blood sugar crashes. I always need to have a reliable source of sugar with me. I live in Florida, where it gets really hot. Chocolate melts in the heat. Necco Wafers do not. So I always have some with me. They might have changed a bit in the last 65 years, but if so, not much. If you haven't eaten them in a while, or, Heaven forbid, EVER, do yourself a favor and buy some Necco Wafers...and maybe a water pik.

Saw that another company had picked up the NECCO Candy Wafers and the SweatHeart valentines hearts and had to get the wafers. Have been a life long favorite and was so disappointed when they disappeared. Got the box of 24 wrapped stacks of wafers. What a treat to enjoy these again. There was a note that the company updated the recipe for the chocolate wafers. Don't exactly recall the old taste, but these current chocolate wafers are very good. All the flavors are very good. The only thing I noticed, and has nothing to do with the taste and quality of eating the wafers, is that the new candy maker looks to still be tweaking the manufacturing equipment to get the NECCO logo to print on each wafer. Kind of hit or miss, but does nothing to take away from having these back to enjoy!! Statistics determines the mix of colors/flavors in each roll. The first box (yes, first box) had very few green wafers. The second box I purchased (did I mention I really like NECCO wafers?) the first roll I opened up had more green wafers than all of the total green wafers in the first box. LOL. I am enjoying!!! There have been some questions posted about how long they last (other than eating) and this box contained rolls with an Expire/Best By date of Dec 2023. Or about 34 months out.

You know how you don’t realize how much you miss something until they are gone? That’s me with Necco Wafers. For years, I took this delicious, tasty, chalky, childhood novelty for granted. Then, one day it was gone! No longer made! What???!!! How could this be? How would the world survive without these little crunchy, pasty, sweet wafers?! We scoured the cities looking for this precious pastime. Following every lead we had, only to find...they were gone! We wept. We had taken these little discs for granted. For several years, we mourned the loss of this candy, thinking it would never return. But then...then the incredible announcement was made that another candy company had heard the cries and was there to answer the call...the call to make Necco Wafers once again! After purchasing the recipe and gathering the needed ingredients and supplies, these little beauties would be soon gracing our candy shelves once again! And now...that time has come! These delicious candies have found their way back into our hearts and homes, hiding from the little hands that will not truly appreciate their crunchy, chalky flavor. May we never take these little discs for granted ever again or our future generations may not know what confectioner’s perfection really is. (And oh yeah, they tasted JUST like the originals!) ;)

Taste the same and just as I remember. I was watching a YouTube video about old candies and they mentioned these are only available on Amazon now. I notice they disappeared a couple years ago from store shelves, I bought them a few times a year just because I'm so in love with this candy for some strange reason. So, I bought a box. Great stuff. Even my boss waxed nostalgic about them when I brought a roll for him into work one day. This price is pretty good, considering I would have to almost spend $2 on a roll at the convenience store (when I could find them in stock). Love having a roll of these in my desk. They last all week, the hardness, texture and flavors are just as we all remember. They are made in Mexico now, which is known for making interesting, delightful and inexpensive candies.

After I saw these I picked up 1, then another one and then a couple boxes of 24. I really love these. I was hoping to get sick of them, but such is the case and I find these Neccos are still my favorite My Mom called me a Neccoholic! So these are great. Came well packaged so they will not break. To the company that makes these, I have some comments. Get rid of the chocolate, cinnamon and clove neccos. They don’t taste very good & they end up taking up a 1/2 roll in the variety roll. Since you can buy whole roll of chocolates you don’t need them in the variety pack. Do a whole pack with licorice or have a contest to pick a different flavor to go in a whole roll. Chocolate is outdated. I’d rather have more licorice, lime, peppermint, lemon and orange.

I've loved NECCO wafers for as long as I can recall. Previously had been buying them by the case from our local dollar bargain store, but had been encountering more and more wafers were broken in the case. When the local store was out of stock, after several weeks of waiting, I turned to my trusted and impressive Amazon. Easily found a price through Amazon that was only pennies more per roll than the dollar discount store had them for, so I ordered a case since I am a 'Prime' member and get free shipping. The order arrived quickly and I was really "wowed" at how well they were packaged in the shipping box. The pic shows what I mean, and this is after the top layer of packing was removed. I'm really impressed and grateful to "Spangler Candy Company" for caring so much about the condition the product is in when the customer receives it. As for the wafers - the flavor and freshness are both perfect, and I've not yet found a broken and I'm over half way through the carton! I'll now say something I rarely say - I honestly believe you can buy with total confidence from Spangler Candy Company. If they take care of their customers this well with just a simple order, I can't imagine their Customer Service department has much work, but to me, that's golden!

I don't imagine anyone would order these if they didn't know what they were. I love them and now that Dollar Tree quit carrying them, I have to order them. The price was pretty good but the packaging was impeccable! Foam inside box holding box of candy. Then that box was inside another box inside another box. Very impressive!! They weren't damaged at all. Seems like the candy variety isn't quite the same but I'm very happy and will continue to order!! UPDATE: It may just be my box but there are very few pink, orange and yellow candies. It's mostly black, white, chocolate and a few green. I will order again to confirm.

I have loved NECCO wafers since I could suck my thumb. I prefer to insert a wafer and let it melt slowly inside my mouth. This usually takes around 5 to 7 minutes depending on the saliva amount in your mouth. It is very enjoyable to guess which flavor is in my mouth. After 68 years of sucking and melting NECCO wafers I have become very proficient in knowing which flavor is in my mouth, and the flavors are all fantastic. I have ordered 4 boxes of NECCO wafers from Amazon over the last year and each box of NECCO wafers came in a box surrounded by this black foam cut especially to "hug" and protect the NECCO wafers from any damage while in transit. But, this last box of NECCO wafers cam in a simple Amazon cardboard box with no black foam protection, only a small bubble wrap on the side of the box. You can see from my photo, that almost all the wafers were damaged and split into shards. It was nearly impossible to find a whole wafer to melt in my mouth. The joy is gone! This is very disappointing, especially since you cannot return these damaged NECCO wafers for a refund or receive a fresh box. I hope someone at the packaging department of NECCO wafers reads this and understands that if they do not take sufficient care to package the box of wafers and people receive them all crushed up, they will surely start to loose customers like myself. Oh and by the way. Back in the days of the Civil War soldiers would take great care to let a NECCO wafer melt slowly in their mouth, since they believed it would protect them in battle and bring them good fortune. And sure enough, when I let a whole NECCO wafer melt slowly in my mouth, the rest of my day is filled with joy, happiness and good luck.
