I use it to check items to see if they re scale and properly dimensioned. I also use it to check tolerances. This marking are very easy to read even the 1/100ths". It has four scales. One side is fractional inches of 32nds and 64ths which you can use as a traditional imperial ruler easily because every 1/8th of an inch has a longer graduation mark. The other side is in 1/10th" and 1/100th". Both sides are imperial so this is suitable for engineering and machinist work. It is high quality metal with a non glare satin finish. When tilted on its horizontal axis the numbers appear to fade leaving a ghost image that is still readable, almost like a holographic effect. This is probably my nicest ruler. I have no complaints about this ruler and have not seen a better one compared to more expensive rulers in the $10-$20 range.
