It is thick, almost like a clay. Clays hold well, for sure. But, I generally don’t like clays because they are so hard to get out of the container and then you have to rub your hands together for a while to heat and soften them up. Not my thing.But the Blackship performs like a clay, but is not a clay. My best description is that it feels like a super wet, very easy to handle, clay and is very easy to scoop out and goes in my hair effortlessly. It’s just great to handle. It is one of the best holding products I own, and my hair style stays put all day long. Because it is water based, it also washes out really easily.
