The 9056 comparator is better than the 9058...
THE GOOD: -------------- * This 9056 is the comparator included in the k-2005. It is superior to the newer 9058 version included in the k-2006 kit. The 9058 is a stripped down version. They removed the color swatches for chlorine because in the k-2006 kit, you'll be testing chlorine using fas-dpd powder. It is a mathematical test, not a visual color matching test. So they removed it because they don't want you to visually compare the results to the color blocks. But powder is expensive. I will only test using powder from time to time, I want to be able to do regular dpd color matching tests all other times. So this 9056 comparator is the best of both worlds. * You still get the CYA black dot at the bottom to do the CYA testings. This 9056 version is not missing any features. The 9058 comparator is a stripped down version of this one. THE BAD: ----------- * Nothing at all, 5-Stars.

Get These In Multiple Measurement Ranges
As part of the process to self-maintain my in-ground pool in Phoenix, measuring the chlorine levels during the season is critical to prevent algae and other problems. In Goldilocks fashion, not too much and not to little -- just right. I discovered that these Taylor comparators come in different measurement ranges for Chlorine. The color code steps for 1 - 5 parts per million on the 1 - 10 comparator are spread apart with more intermediate steps shades on the 1 - 5 comparator to eliminate having to guess. So now I have a set of three for what you might call coarse and fine measurements. When I purchased my first 'fine' comparator, I determined that the color shades on my original 1 - 10 ppm comparator that came with the pool 25 years ago was faded by comparison. So I purchased this replacement to keep my occasional 'high end of the range' measurements true if I need to super-chlorinate. I especially like the revision where the large and small tube caps are now bridged together. Between measuring, the small end of the caps drops into the large tube while the set dries out.
