I didn't have any issues installing this part on my chainsaw. And, it works as it should.

Echo CS 400 recoil spring broke rendering saw useless. Rather than screwing with a recoil spring replacement, just get the entire starter assembly with new recoil spring installed and a fresh pull cord.

Perfect fit on my saw. Tried rebuilding just the pawl portion but I couldn't find that kit for my saw. This was a perfect swap, just wish I could buy only the recoil assembly itself as I didn't need the orange guard.

The Genuine Echo Shindaiwa A051000981 was a perfect fit for my Echo CS400. I ordered, and installed this after re-winding and fixing the original starter assembly until it finally broke completly. On the 2nd pull, at 45 F, my Echo CS-400 roared to life and I took down a 36-inch thick dead Oak tree. Thanks for a great product.
