Movo VXR10-PRO Professional Video Microphone for Camera with Rycote Lyre Shock Mount - Shotgun Mic Compatible with DSLR Cameras and iPhone, Android Smartphones

Surprised me on how good this really was. It mounted onto my camera very easily and was very durable while it was on there. I've had to run while filming and this microphone was able to stand consistent shaking while keeping great audio quality.

I am not pro videographer. I just like making videos of nature, outdoor activities, backyard animals, etc. I am using Lumix G-85. One of my biggest challenges always is wind noise. I avoided making videos on windy days. This all changed when I got the MOVO VXR 10-PRO. With the fur cover on the mic my videos become pleasant to watch. It does a really good job eliminating the howling sound of the wind. When recording people speaking, I found that conversation can sound OK all the up to 14 -15 feet. from about 2 - 3 feet sounds very good for the level of the total cost of the equipment. Also, mic has body made from metal, which makes it more durable. Which brings me to portability of the mic. Small, no need for batteries, perfect fit for my camera bag. It is perfect mic for someone like me, looking for substantial improvement in sound quality with low investment in the cost and no compromise in portability.

I bought this to replace my Takstar SGC-598 Microphone, to use with my Nikon D5100 DSLR camera, after my Takstar started breaking sound, but after 3 years of super heavy usage, figured I'd upgrade and try something new, hence picking up this Movo, after endless great reviews. This microphone is by far the absolute best starter package kit and value, with everything you need, from the hard-shell case, wind muff/foam sponge, to even a wire for both your smartphone and camera, and best part is absolutely no batteries required. The case itself makes it special, since you'll feel much safer and more at ease to transport for any travelers. When used with my Android smartphone, the quality is excellent when speaking from a couple feet away, like doing a selfie style video, and even more incredible, if you hold it right next to your mouth, like a news reporter, incredibly rich and clear. I did a could blind audio tests with other mics, it's actually even better and cheaper than most Rode mics, certainly the micro model, which is in the same price range. The issues come when you're using it with any device, that has much poorer preamps, in my case my Nikon D5100 DSLR Camera. The volume is ridiculously low, unless you increase the sensitivity, but then if you do, the volume becomes perfect, but then is unable to clearly pick up higher loud sounds and has incredibly loud hiss noises. With the same default settings, it's moderately better than the Takstar SGC-598, however there is 1 major advantage to the Takstar. The Takstar has a +10 dB gains and High-Pass filter knobs. As a casual vlog filmmaker, I had never realized how important having such a thing was, but basically learned without that on a mic, such as the Movo, you're pretty much left deciding between either recording at low volumes or perfect volume, but very loud hiss and unclear sounds. In depth of sound, it's also bit too bassy, and doesn't have enough treble. This is where the Takstar really shines. I’m contemplating whether or not to return this, on most solid devices I’d highly recommend this microphone, truly is the absolute best kit out there, but for devices that need more audio demands, that becomes questionable. I think with a nice external recording device or setup where you speak directly into the mic, the Movo will be much better, but in open settings like when you're speaking anything more than 3 feet away from a camera, with low preamps, like most DSLRs, the Takstar easily without question does a significantly better job. The benefits to the Movo are all the accessories and fact you can actually use it with a smartphone, with what's provided.

I love that this is so compact yet delivers such quality sound. Attaching the mic into the cradle is a bit challenging, because it fits TIGHTLY into the cradle for security. Once you get it popped into place, I recommend keeping it there. It comes with a foam windscreen as well as a furry one that goes over the foam one, so you can shoot in even super windy conditions without a bunch of distortion. There are two different cables that come with the mic so it will be compatible with a wide range of products. I enjoy the on mic headphone jack to monitor audio. When you are done you can pack it back up in the included hard case with molded foam inserts for transport protection. This mic is half the price of its main competitor yet the quality is on par with the best. Save your money and invest in Movo!

I'm shooting some videos for YouTube and needed a shotgun style vlogging microphone. I can't stand Rodes because of their harsh and brittle top end (why can't people hear this?). Even so, in a four microphone shoot-out, on YouTube, of course, a couple of guys ran these microphones through their paces indoors, outdoors, and in various situations which they repeated with each microphone to keep the testing consistent. I was listening for the most natural sound of the lot and decided that, even if it was the Rode -- constantly over-rated by vlogging/podcasting lemmings and inexperienced voice actors alike -- I would buy one. To my relief, the microhone that rejected the most rear and side noise while sounding natural was... The Movo VXR10-Pro. To make the pot sweeter, it's all aluminum and metal construction, has a headphone out, and you'll get a nice case, two cables -- one each for iPhone usage or for camera connections -- a dead cat, a foam wind screen, and a real Rycote (not some fragile, plastic-y look-alike). Oh, and it needs no batteries. The only critical thing I have to say is that it's kinda tough to get the microhone into and out of the Rycote, a necessity if you want to store them in the case since they don't fit in there when together. So, if you're after a more directional, well made, natural sounding vlogging microhone and feel that Rodes are as over-rated as I do, then the Movo VXR10-Pro should be your first, and only, choice.

This mic was supposedly shipped 'New' from Movo. Received the mic and opened it up. Nice black case. Went to plug it into a Tascam DR-07 handheld recorder and the included TRS-TRS cable was missing and nowhere to be found in the case or the box. I have TRS-TRS cables from other mics, so I tried one of those (tried a second one as well). Got things plugged in, ensured plugin power was enabled and hit the Tascam's record button while monitoring through headphones. Nice amount of hiss, but absolutely no audio from the mic. Same thing with a Canon 90D DSLR, no mic audio. Checked to be sure I was in the 'line out' jack, yup. Looking the mic a bit closer I noticed the tiny silver QR code sticker on the side of the mic was wrinkled up. I suspect the mic to be used at this point and the QR sticker got wrinkled when someone put on the nice looking Rycote shockmount. Whoever had this likely forgot or intentionally didn't put the TRS-TRS cable back in the box. I had high hopes for this mic. I might expect Amazon to reship a used return that may not be checked out thoroughly before shipping, but I find it hard to believe the manufacturer would sell something as 'new', or if they did knowingly ship it used, at least ensure all the parts are included and the device actually functions the way it supposed to. Not real happy about returning this item either, as the UPS drop off location is not in a town I usually travel to and gas for my vehicle isn't exactly cheap for a 20 mile round trip. If MOVO can somehow make this right I'll listen. The mic did tick most of the boxes I wanted for small mic. I simply want a mic that's guaranteed to work when I get it and has all the parts. Is that too much to ask? MOVO.... look at the manual for this mic and its non-Pro version. The Pro version is supposed to be a supercardioid, but a cardioid polar pattern is depicted. The non-Pro version is supposed to be cardioid, but depicts a supercardioid polar pattern. Supercardioid has 'lobe' of sensitivity to the rear of a mic, cardioid has no rear lobe. Is the frequency response correct or is this reversed also?

I expected the microphone to work better than it did. Sadly the microphone still caught a fair amount of surrounding audio. Even when the microphone was pointing directly away from the audio I didn't want. Given my experience, I honestly wouldn't even refer to this as a supercardiod mic. It has good sound quality, no doubt. But it doesn't really function as that microphone type. The cables for this microphone are also too short. It's fine if it's on a camera or phone mount. But there isn't a lot of mileage aside from that specific scenario. It would be nice if it was just a little longer to further expand the capabilities of this microphone out of the box. I like how small it is, it's very portable, and that's what you want. Especially with the accessories provided. It's just unfortunate that the microphone doesn't really function like it is supposed to. That's why this review is 3 stars. It's technically not a bad microphone, a great deal with all of the accessories, chords and case included. I just don't think it's great for It's intended purpose. At the very least, it didn't function well for me when I attempted the intended function. Who knows, it might work well for other people. If nothing else, if you're in the market for a relatively cheap microphone that should work better than the microphone on your cell phone/camera. Then this product might very well be for you. If you're unlucky like me however, don't expect it to catch what you want it to consistently. To me it very much is a mixed product as it technically isn't bad, just not entirely consistent and accurate.

El microfono esta muy bien. Tiene muy buena calidad de audio, es ligero y portable y cubre las necesidades de cualquier creador de contenido. Viene con un estuche para guardarlo, el estuche es rigido y se siente seguro. Viene con las cables necesarios para conectar el movil o a una camara. Viene con el soporte para micro, y con sus protectores para el viento. Lo he probado con el iphone (toca tener el adaptador adicional a lighting) y con mi camara y en ambos casos me ha funcionado sin problema. Suelo conectarlo con audifonos y el monitoreo funciona genial, puedo ir escuchando lo que grabo sin necesidad de estar desconectando. El proctor de viento tambien reduce bastante el ruido, no del todo pero esta bien. En cuanto a sonido, las voces se oyen claras. Destaca un poco los agudos, eso hace que las voces se sientan un poco sin fuerza y que se note bastante la reverb de alguna habitación, pero algo que con un poco de edición se soluciona facilmente.

Bravi e veloci

This is a very good quality product that comes with a range of useful accessories including a Rycote mount, two connecting cables, a ‘dead cat’ wind cover and a foam cover, all supplied in a high quality case. I used the mic on a small table tripod stand and the shock mount, to test its quality against the supposed three studio quality mics in a new £3k MacBook Pro 16. The Movo won hands down on unedited clarity and presence for narrating work. However, the MBP probably has a flatter frequency response, therefore needs post processing to lift it. I have done that on previous occasions to good effect. For a quick, unedited interview or narration the Movo is an excellent choice and I look forward to doing field work with it and my iPhone in a stabilising filming frame plus a large tripod. As an update I used it for a couple of days to interview students in a workshop. I was about 2 m away and can confirm the mic picked them up perfectly as well as picking me up from close by the side, albeit it at a relatively lower volume because the mic is supercardioid i.e. forward directional. It is a bargain and made of metal too.
