The pears are gone but the gnats seem to be multiplying. We used apple cider vinegar with a drop of dish soap and it definitely helped but we still have some persistent buggers flying around. So, I purchased a box of these fly traps. I have used them many times in the greenhouse to help catch flying buggers so I thought I would try it in the house. They have not disappointed. I hung one from a hanger by a light. Sure enough, the gnats were attracted to it and are stuck on it. Just be careful, it is very sticky and can make a mess FAST, if it touches anything. It is chemical free, odorless and cheap and easy. We have young kittens (covid closed down the vet's office and their moms did not get spayed on April 12th as scheduled; we thought the laundry room door was shut tight, opened the door to get an AMAZON delivery, and away they both flew, like the down of a thistle (it's Christmastime). Anyway, without using any type of aerosol spray, causing damage to humans and critters, in 48 hours our house was completely devoid of flies and flying insects, and the ones we put on the back deck were filled.
