Narex Round Turned 250 gram 9 oz Beech Wood Carving Mallet 825701

I bought this mallet for relief carving. I was surprised how long the handle portion of this mallet is. Even in my big hands, I can comfortably hold the mallet at the rear of the handle for powerful blows, at the front of the handle for light blows, or the mallet head itself for tapping. It is also nicely balanced. Other than the exposed lathe turning marks on the ends, which don't affect it's function, it is nicely finished. Even the Narex brand is stamped into the wood, not just laid over the top. Nice touch. On the not so great side, the stickers (Narex and Amazon) were not easily removed without a heat gun and Goof Off.

Whacks good, hasn't broken yet. 4 years in service.

Just the right size. High quality tool, worth every penny - I know it's going to last for ages.

Quality wood hammer, however I think I prefer a heavier mallet for most work. This is good for light delicate chiseling.

Female, 5'3. I used this on meat but mostly to make crumbs from graham crackers, nuts, etc. Yes, & garlic. I oil it regularly & it looks great on my counter! Feels good in my hand, nice weight & heft for me.

I have one in my shop got this for the kitchen, great for garlic and flattening chicken or meet. The beech wood looks good on the counter better than my beater (pun intended0 in the shop. The size is good for a small to median hand and the weight is right for my wife or for a long chisel session.

I use this mallet for woodcarving. I'm just a beginner, although I've used chisels and mallets for carpentry (not professional, just homeowner level) for quite some time. I like the round shape because I don't have to worry about holding so the head hits the chisel squarely.

The stain/finish on it is different from the product pictures from Narex, but I don’t care about that. It’s a tool not a work of art. It’s super comfortable in the hand and very well made. This will last many years I’m sure.
