Giraffe Tools 1/2"100FT Retractable Garden Hose Reel Wall Mount Auto Rewind

After years and years of trying many different hose reels and hose holders, I think we have finally found a good one. This hose reel is extremely heavy duty and holds a 100 foot hose, which we need to be able to reach our entire backyard and side yard. The only negative comment I have so far is the sprayer is 100% plastic and I’m not sure it’s going to last. But we shall see. We spent a lot more money on this hose and reel combination and any other we’ve bought in the past, but so far it looks like it’s worth it . For this price I think a good sprayer should either be included or not sent at all. Is it me cheap in the product if it does break in the first season like I’m guessing it might, but hopefully and maybe I’ll be wrong overall I recommend this product. I try to do as many reviews as possible For both good and bad products and this one I even took the time to take pictures and a video to share because those of you that spent a lot of time in your yard and need a good hose and reel. So far this is the best we’ve found yet it comes with a 5 foot hose to connect to the Spicket, so you could put your real up to 5 feet away from the Spicket And we have done that in this case because it’s a little bit large and I don’t want it in the way of people walking by on our pool deck. Check out the pics and video and if you’re looking for a hose and reel This is a good product so far .

Works great

Nice item, but it has a tendency to bind up, or the belt comes off. I fixed it a few times, but eventually became unrepairable. Also, the wall-mount bracket isn't very sturdy.

I am revising my review to 5 stars as a result of the response and great support I received from Grace at Giraffe. She was genuinely concerned about my experience and the product quality. Products occasionally have minor flaws and when Grace took control of my order, she was great. I am now a very happy and satisfied customer. I will not hesitate to buy Giraffe products specifically because of their support and service. I bought this item on June 27, 2025 very excited to have an automatic retractable hose. I mounted it immediately and have used it every day until August 5 (9 DAYS AFTER THE 30 DAY WARRANTY) when the hose itself blew up like an anaconda that just ate 5 rats. 5 big bulges in the hose, and then it split and leaked uncontrollably. I filed a product quality issue with Giraffe, but they haven't even responded. BUYERS BE WARE!

As at least one other person noted, the internal mechanism that travels back and forth to place the hose in the reel in a uniform manner is cheap and stopped working. It appears to be driven by a worm gear that is in turn driven by an elastic belt of some sort. The belt moves as it should, but the plastic piece that its supposed to be connected to stopped moving along with it. Maybe broken inside? I'm not sure. But it started having problems less than a year after I bought it and the problem kept getting worse and it no longer moves back and forth at all, making the reel completely useless. I can reach inside and turn it manually, but its very impractical and difficult. It feels like internally it seizes up for some reason. It's so cheap that it seems like planned obsolescence as someone else thought. I had never abused the device in any way. I expect much better quality than I got. I won't be buying any more products from Giraffe Tools.

I give it 5 stars just because I do not have to manually reel up a 50, 80 ft hose etc! That makes me happy, we will see on the durability of the components over time. I just can't say enough how it feels self retracting, and how it does not feel on the body joints! If your a busy home owner, business owner, you need this. I like that Giraffe Tools offers a few choices of length, and two sizes of hose diameter. I am purchasing another unit to install on a 6 x6 deck post on the rear of the house, will be great for the pool, the gardening etc. I happy I chose the 5/8, not the 1/2. As the the inside diameter seems smaller than 5/8, so its the OD thats 5/8. That said, the pressure was good upon my initial trial of the hose, the nozzle is very good also. The install was easy, but you need to assess your mounting surface, I mounted on brick and did not use the plastic ribbed anchors, but the supplied hardware. would be acceptable for install. I purchased ss lags and lag shields for this install. I did remove the mounting bracket and used it as a template, not the paper template. Have the correct bit for the material your drilling into. I used a hammer drill and 1/2 in masonary bit for my application into brickl, keep the the bit level as you drill! This was my first purchase from Giraffe Tools, and hope I can purchase other products from them, as I do like the power washers they manufacture! I will recommend Giraffe to family members and friends, and they all need to have this s retracting hose!

I hope this plastic monster will last. Seems solid in build, which is why I gave a 3 star rating. This could have easily been rated at 2 stars, here's why. 1. if you really need a 5/8 hose, this isn't it. Technically, it may have an OD of 5/8" but a 5/8" hose should represent the diameter of the inside not the outside. 2. hose seems very cheaply made. Its super flexible and kinks very easy. That's a pet peeve of mine. I do not like hoses that kink if the wind blows. Part of the black outer coating is already coming off of the hose. I don't think this will affect the performance though. 3. the mounting hardware. If you do not want to go to home depot or lowes to purchase the proper mounting sleeves, don't buy this one. But if you don't mind a trip to the store to get the proper mounting sleeves then you're OK. The online instructions say to use a 1/2" masonry bit when mount to brick. The included plastic sleeves will pull out of the wall within the first couple of uses. You will need to get the 1/4 lead sleeves if you use a 1/2 bit. But, you can use the included lag bolts. Just make sure to an impact drill or they will never go in without a ton of work. The good is that the hose seems to retract properly. The very flexible hose may be necessary for this to work properly so I won't hold that against it. I probably would have bought a Hoselink product if they were sold by Amazon. I just didn't trust the hoselink website for the purchase. Wishing you all the best.

Exactly as described and easy to install and use. I love the convenience of the hose retracting.

Pas encore installé car acheté en fin de saison. Ce sera pour le printemps prochain. Le produit me semble solide. On verra à l'usage mais je suis satisfait de la qualité pour le moment.

Love it

We have just purchased a second Giraffe retractable hose for the other side of our home, as we are so impressed with the first one. We had a different retractor brand before and it always got stuck inside the case. The Giraffe was a little more expensive but has never let us down.

Came as advertised

Sometimes gets stuck when reeling in. It is fairly heavy so make sure what ever it is you have it attached to is strong and/or reinforced. It is a smaller gage hose but has lots of pressure. The spray nozzle works well, the auto reel works good other than Sometimes having to give it a little tug to get it to continue to roll in. It is very easy to install, also easy to take off the mount to bring in for storage.
