## Description

The Ultrasonic Echoscope is an instrumental tool in preparing students for a career in medical physics using the principles of echography (aka sonography or ultrasound). Ultrasonic experiments can be conducted in reflection mode, according to the pulse echo principle, or in through transmission mode. Experiments involving the ultrasonic echoscope can be performed with 1 megahertz, 2 megahertz or 4megahertz transducers. Ultrasonic transducer not included in scope of delivery. Propagation of longitudinal and transverse waves to investigate ultrasound in solids. Determining velocity of longitudinal and transverse ultrasonic waves in solid bodies. Determination of shear modulus, modulus of elasticity and Poisson number. Attenuation of sound in solid bodies and liquids. Frequency dependence of sound attenuation. Time dependent gain. Frequency dependence of resolution. Recording brightness images. Recording ultrasonic echoes from moving boundaries (time-motion mode). Measurement of anomalies. Frequency range: 1-5 megahertz. Transmission signal: Dirac pulse (<1 microsecond, 10 volt to 300 volt). Transmission power: 0-30 decibel, in 10 decibel steps. Gain: 0-35 decibel, in 5 decibel steps. TGC: Continuously adjustable threshold value, start value, rise time and gain time, maximum gain of 30 decibel. Connections: TGC signal, trigger, low frequency signal, high frequency signal via a BNC jack in each case. PC connection: USB. Scanning rate: 10 megahertz per channel. Power consumption: 20 volt-ampere approximately. Mains voltage: 90-230 volt, 50/60 hertz.
