I used it also to mill some 5' 4" boards and they came out very slightly bowed. I didn't really care for the faces, but it did make me hand joint the edges. I wouldn't go over 4'. It might be better with some lighter boards though like pine. I just couldn't put enough force on the outfeed to counterbalance the 5/4 walnut. **Q: What diameter is the dust port and how good is the *fine-dust* containment on the rikon 8" benchtop jointer?** A: 2 1/2 **Q: does the tables have swirl or grinding marks on them?** A: If you're talking mill marks, yes, but they're very fine. Quite frankly, the WEN and the RIKON look just alike! In fact, I wouldn't doubt if they are not made in the same factory. However, it may be in my mind, but the RIKON simply does a much better job. Rikon has an excellent reputation in bandsaws, so I gave them a chance. It was a very happy surprise. This tool is easy to set up (tables and fence) if you have experience. Leaves a clean job with few or no marks. The 8" capacity offers greater possibilities for saving on lumber. The warranty is the best in the market. I recently had to replace the fence and the customer service sent me another one immediately, without question and with great attention. Book says it comes with tables leveled, they are in fact not and was sniping the ends. And it took a bit to get there. After I got them there all I have run through it has been rough cut white oak. It does very well, I smell rubber at times which I’m assuming is the belt, I am not forcing it through or trying to run fast and all I have taken off is 1/32 at a time. Need to take time and see if the belt is maybe loose or what’s going on there.
