This net was only used for one day. Six different kids handled it and it worked fine. They caught a lot of minnows! Then, it was the 7th kid's turn and it broke immediately. The joint between the net and the handle is plastic, and it broke. I love how compact it is. It folds up much smaller than the other net that I bought, but it didn't last. This could be a good net with some design improvements in that joint.

I was surprised to see how nice this net actually was when opening the package. I wasn't expecting such a nice net for what I paid for it. It seems to be well built and a sturdy little net. It is also a nice size. Sometimes pictures can be deceiving but not this time. The only thing I worry about is the metal bending where it expands if someone were to lean against it. I have kids so our stuff goes through a lot of wear and tear.

Does it catch minnows? Yes.Does the handle come loose and fall off? Yes.The net and folding mechanism work really well.The handle is two parts that use a twist lock to secure the poles. Even the slightest twist will loosen it and it is likely then to come apart. One hour of use and we were missing parts.We have caught a lot of minnows with this net though. The netting it small enough to catch tiny minnows. Just tighten the handle after each attempt so it doesn’t come loose.

My 12 yr old son uses this net to catch frogs. He really likes it, especially that is deep enough to keep them from jumping out as easily and strong enough that it doesn’t bend with the weight or strain the net. It is also extremely light. The weave of the net is looser than a fine mesh. Some tiny creatures may be able to fit through it, but my son has easily scooped up tadpoles with no problem. It would be nice if the handle was able to extend to an overall longer length.

We don't really fish but this net will work nicely for creek stomping with the grandkids, or as a net for butterflies and fireflies/lightning bugs in the field. The build is reasonable and it folds up nicely to a small footprint. Our grandkids are a bit older so we didn't need the rainbow colors found on some other nets.

My kids wanted to observe marine animals and we got this to fish out things from a local pond. The make is great, easy to assemble and kids love it!

Update:They replaced the bet with one that could be correctly assembled.Could not even assemble the net because the screw was larger. Was given as a gift and by the time they returned it to me the window was closed to return.
