Miracle of Mozart Numbers and Shapes is the third tape in the Babyscapes video series. Miracle of Mozart teaches children numbers and shapes utilizing state of the art graphics while carefully chosen classical selections of Mozart play in the background aiding children in learning each number and each shape. Each musical piece was chosen because of its proven ability to stimulate the brain thus accelerating the learning process. Children love the creative ways each segment entertains and teaches. And, Miracle of Mozart is a wonderful way to introduce children to classical music.

Knows her numbers at 14 months? Yes!
This tape is very well put together and uses some excellent methods from early childhood education. First, it uses repetition which is one of the foundations for learning at any age. Second, it uses childrens' voices to repeat the numbers and shapes. Babies and young children tend to focus better on the voices of other children, rather than adults, because of the pitch and modulation of their voices. Third, it uses fun and upbeat music as the background for the video. This helps to retain the childs interest in what's going on on-screen. Last, but not least, the video images that have been chosen are colorful and fun to watch. There is alot of movement and activity on-screen to keep your child's attention and focus on what's being taught. My daughter received this video when she was 8 months old. She didn't show any real interest in it until she was around 11 months. By 12 months she could say one or two numbers (in the correct place) and now at 14 months she can say almost all of them. She's also shown a greater interest in the numbers around her as well (on her toy phone, or on the mailbox, for example). She really likes me to sit with her and repeat the names of the numbers along with the tape. The shapes she's not shown as great an interest in, but her interest seems to be growing with age.In all, I think this is an excellent video, both from an educational and entertainment perspective.

Appropriate if you're brainwashing your baby
My wife and I have bought quite a few educational videos so far for our 11-month-old, and this is by far the worst. It is extremely repetitive-- it consists of the same exact computer-animated spinning shapes with numbers on them repeated over and over, which quickly bored our baby. It's literally the same thing over and over and over. In addition, the whole thing has a weird feel, almost as if it's an attempt at hypnotism. My wife noticed this separately from me. It's hard to explain. The Mozart music playing faintly in the background can't save it, either. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money, or you may wind up throwing it in the garbage as we did. I think it would actually make a child less intelligent to watch this DVD often.

Not for us.
my boys didn't like watching any of these type of dvds - they never held their interest - Gave them wooden blocks instead to teach them counting or the counters and did the flash cards for visual number reading - worked better for us

mesmerizing for my grandson
Miracle of Mozart Numbers & Shapes is mesmerizing to my 3 year old grandson. When I viewed it, I thought it was too boring and repetitive, but he asks for it all the time and revels in the repitition. He had already mastered shapes but numbers were not sticking and this video has helped him immensely. I would have gotten it sooner and would recommend it highly. The music sets it off well.

This is a great dvc- very educational and calming
I inititally ordered this dvd in VHS format for about 11 years ago. My niece loved it and we adults enjoyed the simplicity of it as well. My niece and her younger love music and have since started to play various instruments, They love all types of music and do well with all subjects particularly math. I think this series of tapes/DVDs has something to do with it.The person who gave it a negative review in 2006 because it's repetitive missed the point entirely- that's the way you teach kids. When I hear certain classical pieces I smile and remember hearing the piece on the tape. I'm buying yet another copy because I give copies to parents when I'm invited to baby showers.

Excellent Teaching Tool
This was an excellent teaching tool. My son knew all his numbers and letters before he turned three.

I read the reviews on this DVD and was pretty impressed with the claims that were made
I read the reviews on this DVD and was pretty impressed with the claims that were made. We purchased this DVD for my one year old as one of his Christmas presents. The very first time he watched it, he was repeating some of the numbers. I know we're still a ways away from being able to count, but it's already and amazing start.I would highly recommend this DVD.

Why Did I Buy This DVD???
This DVD is a waste of your time. I'm not sure why I didn't heed the customer reviews. I had a hard time watching this. It is totally lifeless and uncreative, repeating ad nauseum, like some kind of pain/drug/hypnosis video that would be used by the CIA. Please spare yourself and do not buy this. Sorry to be so hardnosed about it, but, this video is just no good.
