Can you wash it in the washing machine ?

No, it's to large and to stiff to wash in a washing machine. It's best to use a pressure washer or hose it down with a good nozzle.

Does it get too hot when laying in the sun?

Mine is on my patio and a screen is blocking it but before I got that it didn’t get hot from the sun.
