AIM SPORTS M1A MOUNT
I respect the other two reviewers opinions shown here. But I have a different tale. Yes, the mount has to be fitted to the stripper guide. I found its better somewhat larger than the dovetail than smaller. Bigger is better. It took me about 15/20 minutes to file for fit. The one reviewer is right, do not drive it in, fit it for snug. A few light taps with a small hammer is all that should be required. With that said, once its in and correctly centered, your instinct might tell you to leave it as it is, that its so tight it wont go anywhere. Resist that, Replace the roll pin. Unless you plan on using strippers, the new part can stay there permanently. The two mounting receiver screws were no problem for me. I got them both to tighten down and I'm sure they will stay that way during range activity. If not, a little grip tite can be applied and/or a different type of lock washer will do the trick. You also might want to consider that this mount(I believe it’s 3rd generation) offers see-through ability. So as you choose to do so, you can shoot either iron or scope at the same time. I think that’s a plus merit. Unless the ocular end is so wide that it interferes with the iron sights view, then it wont make a difference anyway. It sits on my gun (2006 SA M1A) perfectly square and level. Theres no problem at all in mounting a scope to it. I can remove the mount as I will without losing zero.I cant see how you can lose by purchasing this mount. Unless you're sniping the mountains of Afghanistan, this all you'll need. For paper shooting or hunting, you cant miss. For the price and heft of the mount, its 5 from me.

The mount is a JOKE!!!!!
Skip this POS! Pulled it out of the box and it did not fit the rifle. It needed some fitting(ie, shaving down a screw and filling down a dove tail to fit in the stripper clip guide) once it was installed the mount was so crooked on top of the rifle, and there is no way to adjust it. Anyways, took it to the range and put a couple of rounds down, and the damn mount had already shaken loose even after blue Loctite was applied. Needless to say this worthless crap is off my rifle, and I am currently waiting for a Sadlak. I guess that's what I get for buying cheap.BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE!!!!

As good as it gets, from a former "Marine"
Can't believe anyone could not appreciate this item, as the Gunny had stated earlier in a review, you must be a "Panty Waste" something about broken finger nails, and other such comments, oh yeah if you want the Springfield name on it!! This was much like what was on my "14" before they took it away, and gave me the M16, which I quickly learned to hate, early 16's were poor, and the ammo even poorer!!! I was with rank and pulled some strings and got my 14 back. The installation of this as will be true of any "fitted" component needed a little metal manipulation, a few swipes with a dovetail file(3 edge) and it went right into place this will be comparable to a construction fit, apply hair dryer type heat to the female portion on the weapon, once it is relatively hot, tamp the finished piece into position, use the appropriate size punch to ensure hole alignment, drift your spring pin back into position. True your mount to the weapon, and same with scope. It is as close as the real thing as you can get, and at a fraction of the cost. This went on a Springfield M1A1 Standard woody, didn't want to but......well this old "JarHead's eyes aren't as good as they once were!Seeing all the gizzy's they have these days for the M16 is crazy, when they were first issued you got a cleaning kit, and a 16 penny nail to spin your sights.

Spend more and get a better product!
Just like others said file it down the stripper clip block a little and it will work perfect. Saved me a hundred plus dollars when I was looking at buying the springfield armory one.#Update....# After several tests, a hundred or so rounds, this does not line up evenly. Metal is slightly twisted causing me to be off 8 inches or so from center mass when trying to zero with scope. Put same scope on another rifle and was zeroed with in a few rounds, so not my scope. Took it to local gunsmith and he confirmed what I thought but did not want to admit....junk.Just spent $200 on a mount specifically designed mount for my sage ebr stock. ouch! But dead on. Not worth the frustration. Spend more and get better.

Wow, wasnt expecting much after reading reviews but this mount rocks. It is solid and holds zero on my rifle. Easy install too. This mount beats the promag i had on it before. This is a exellent mount and any price. Glad i picked one up.

jams my bolt
this thing man , i brought this for my m14 and a 20 pack stripper clips for my sks , none of the clips fit in my sks . and this mount , the front screw is way too long. if i have to lock the mount tightly to my m14 , the front screw has to go in to my receiver and that blocks my bolt. i didnt realize it at begining till my m14 wont function well, this thing almost ruined my m14 , never , never , never buy it

Scope mount worked great once i added a small washer to the front bolt as it screwed in a little to far and would hinder the bolt movement and a little dremel work to get the rear block to slide in but otherwise i am very happy with it
